The Comments Told Me I Was Carrying His Only Heirs Chapter 04

Josiah drove me back to my apartment building and parked by the curb.

Before I got out of the car, we exchanged phone numbers.

Not long after he drove away, the comments revealed that he had already sent his assistant to run a background check on me.

My record was spotless, so I had absolutely nothing to worry about.

The next morning, right after breakfast, my phone rang. It was Josiah.

I picked up nervously, “Are the results out?”

Josiah’s voice sounded perfectly flat, “They are. Are you free right now? Let’s talk in person.”

“Sure, just send me the address.”

“I’ll come to you. I’ll call when I’m downstairs.”

“Alright.”

An hour later, we were sitting in a quiet café near my building.

Josiah went straight to the point. “I will cover all expenses related to your pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery.”

“During the pregnancy, I will give you one million dollars a month. Once the babies are born, you will receive another ten million dollars. How does that sound?”

I nodded without hesitation, “Deal!”

That would be at least fifteen million dollars total.

With my qualifications, I could slave away at a job my entire life and still never make that much money.

Besides, my babies were going to inherit a billion-dollar empire in the future.

Even if they didn’t recognize me as their mother down the road, I would still be thrilled for them.

With our verbal agreement settled, Josiah pulled out a contract for me to sign.

I skimmed through it quickly, found no issues, and signed my name.

The moment he took the signed contract back, he transferred the first million dollars to my account.

Setting his phone down, Josiah spoke up, “I have an empty penthouse near the hospital. If you don’t mind, you can move in there.”

My salary was low, so I was currently renting a cramped, run-down apartment in a sketchy part of town with terrible living conditions.

He clearly wanted a better environment for the babies, and I obviously had no objections.

I nodded, “Sure.”

After leaving the café, I went straight back to my apartment to pack my bags.

On the way, I messaged my landlord to let her know I was breaking the lease early, telling her she could keep the remaining rent and security deposit to hire a cleaning crew.

The penthouse turned out to be fully furnished and already staffed with a live-in maid and a personal nutritionist.

Before leaving me to settle in, Josiah gave a few instructions. “Ms. Higgins will accompany you to the hospital for your prenatal checkup tomorrow. Contact me anytime if anything comes up.”

I nodded, “Okay.”

Once Josiah left, I finally started to relax and enjoy the luxury lifestyle.

I munched on some fruit while reading the comments:

[These two are so polite to each other, are they ever going to have any romance?]

[That depends entirely on how the author writes it.]

[The ML and FL have already gotten their happily ever after anyway. Just let Josiah end up with the mother of his kids. It’d be so nice for them to be a happy family together.]

There wasn’t a single negative comment in sight, and the more I watched, the more amused I became.
