The Comments Said She’d Replace My Daughter? Not on My Watch Chapter 11

[Haha, this is fun. Is the side-character mom saying Marcus’s acting is terrible?]

[Wait, what is the side-character mom playing at? Now I’m curious.]

Tessa had no idea what was going through our minds.

She sighed and comforted me. “Ma’am, please don’t grieve so much. The dead can’t come back.

“Nina was always driven by emotion, but I truly can’t understand how she could value a man more

than her own mother.”

“If I had a mother like you, I would thank heaven every single day.”

I patted the back of her hand. “Tessa, you’re the sensible one.”

I turned to Marcus.

“Marcus, tomorrow I’ll have someone draft the agreement to transfer the company to you.”

He coughed. “Mom, is there a rush?”

I sighed. “After all, you’ll be my only hope from now on.”

I took Tessa’s hand. “I also know about the two of you. If you truly like each other, we can make it

official.”

Tessa’s eyes lit up. She took my hand and shook it. “Thank you for blessing us, ma’am.”

Only I saw the faint smile curling at her lips as she lowered her head.

A week later, I brought Marcus to a hotel.

I connected my phone to the hotel TV.

I told them I had hidden a live-stream camera above Nina’s portrait in the memorial hall at home.

Marcus stared at me in shock. “Mom, why would you do that?”

The comments exploded.

[What? She put a camera up there?!]

[But the baby invited the male lead to the Hart villa today…]

[Relax, it’s fine. The baby might not do anything. Don’t overthink it!]

I adjusted the TV volume. “So you can see Tessa’s true face.”

Marcus crossed his arms. “I trust Tessa.”

My daughter agreed. “Tessa and I grew up together. I know her inside out.”

I said nothing more, just watched the screen closely.

In the center of the frame, Tessa came over and lit incense.

“Nina… no, Sonny. We grew up together, and I never thought you’d leave me like this.”

“Without you, I really am a bit lonely.”

Marcus let out a relieved breath. “I told you you were overthinking it, Mom. Tessa is a good

woman.”

But my daughter said nothing. I knew she had seen the same expression on Tessa’s face that I had.

Cold and ruthless. Not a trace of nostalgia.

In the distance, a man walked closer, spinning a lighter. He leaned against the doorframe and stared at Tessa with a knowing smile.

“Miss Rayne, performing sisterly devotion again?”

“Too bad no one’s here to appreciate this masterful performance.”

“That’s Felix Ford?” Marcus frowned at the man on screen.
