The Comments Said He Never Wanted Me—So Why Did Divorce Make Him Snap? Chapter 02

Back home, I lay face down on the bed as the servants tended to my injury.

Edmond walked in.

His shirt hung open. Bandages wrapped tightly around his torso.

[Damn, that wounded hero look-those pecs, that V-taper. Drooling over here!]

[Cover up, sweetie! Or the villainess is gonna prey on you again!]

[Your body belongs to our baby girl! Don’t let the villainess take advantage of you!]

Edmond couldn’t see the comments.

He set a basin of water beside the bed.

Kneeling on one knee, he wrung out a hot towel.

With my back injured, I couldn’t shower, so wiping down with a towel was the only option.

I usually made him handle this kind of task.

The comments nearly blinded me:

[I knew it! I knew she didn’t take that whip out of the goodness of her heart-this is what she was after all along!]

[Oh please. She knows our ice-cold lead has zero interest in her, so she takes one lash to put him in her debt, and now guilt forces him to play nursemaid and wipe her down.]

[Pathetic scheme fits her pathetic character perfectly. Is “competing for a man” the only thing on her mind? Lmao.]

[Hang in there, everyone! Our baby girl just joined his company as his secretary!]

[Soon our baby girl’s quirky charm will melt that iceberg of a man and show him he’s capable of falling for someone else.]

[When the villainess throws a fit and calls our baby girl a homewrecker, he’s gonna give her what she deserves.]

[The author said the villainess gets thrown into an asylum and tormented to death by a hundred

men. Now that’s satisfying-I’m in for the long haul.)

I pulled my hand out of Edmond’s grip.

The towel in his hand froze in midair.

“Go do whatever you need to do.”

I buried my face in my pillow.

Edmond frowned. “What else would I be doing?”

“Overtime at the office, sleeping on the floor in the study-aren’t those your favorites?”

“Raina Donovan.” Edmond tossed the towel back into the water. “What game are you playing now?”

I looked at him.

He was down on the floor, yet the way he looked up at me was pure mockery.

He was never one for warmth.

If my parents hadn’t saved his, he never would have agreed to an arranged marriage with me.

Even so, throughout our eight years of marriage, I had never let him off the hook.

He was cold, so I forced him.

He resisted, so I pushed harder.

I even forced him to wait on me hand and foot, making him look henpecked to the outside world.

When he couldn’t stand it and stopped coming home, I complained to his parents.

Using my status as Mrs. Harrington, I basically ran wild at home.

But… I never wanted to truly hurt him.

Yet in the end, he could do that to me…

My eyes stung.

Why?

He was my husband, the father of my child.

I bossed him around a bit, and for that, I had to die a miserable death because of another woman?

“Edmond, I signed the agreement.”

He froze.

The housekeeper placed a postnuptial agreement in front of him.

A non-infringement marital contract.

He had drafted it back when we got married.

It required our marriage to be strictly in name only. No physical intimacy allowed.

Back then, it only triggered my rebellious streak.

I insisted on kissing him.

Why shouldn’t I kiss my own husband?

Not just kiss-sleep with him too.

If he didn’t listen, I’d force the issue. I refused to believe I couldn’t break him!

“I won’t force you anymore. Do whatever you want from now on.”

Edmond stared at me in disbelief.

I thought he was about to say something.

Instead, he ripped the agreement into pieces, bit by bit.

“Edmond?” I blinked.

He tossed the shreds into the trash.

“What good is signing it now?”

Before I could process his words, the comments exploded:

[Lmao, refusing to sign when they got married, but now that they’ve slept together and have a kid,

she pretends to want a platonic marriage?]

[This villainess is not just evil, she’s dramatic as hell.]

[Ugh, I’m so mad! Our baby girl was supposed to get a pristine male lead! But this bitch claimed him

first!]

Thinking about how that kid was conceived makes me want to throw up!]

[Don’t worry, girls. No matter how much Raina claimed him, she was just training him for our baby girl. All those moves she forced out of him will serve our baby girl real good later.]

[Oh my god, I’m blushing! Stop!]

My nose tickled with tears.

According to the comments, not only would my child reject me, but my own husband would end up being groomed for another woman?

I pouted beneath the pillow, unable to control my feelings.

After a moment to steady my voice, I said, “Fine. If the postnuptial agreement is too late, how about a divorce agreement?”
