The Child I Carry Is Not Your Heir Chapter 09

After a short discussion between the three of us, we settled on a wedding date one week later.

The next morning we headed to a bridal boutique to pick out my wedding gown, and Sam bought every single

dress on display.

“I didn’t want you overwhelmed picking between options. We’ll keep all of these, and you can wear the rest

for your birthday parties later.”

I nodded as the boutique clerks gasped and gushed beside us.

“This is pulled right from a classic rom-com! A dashing prince with his gorgeous princess, you two look

made for each other!”

Cameras flashed nonstop as they snapped photos of our moment together.

Sam and I linked arms, ducking our heads shyly with soft smiles.

When our eyes met again, we both knew we’d chosen the right person to spend life with.

I finally settled on a sleek satin mermaid wedding dress with minimal embellishments.

Later Sam brought Chloe and me out for dinner.

Chloe stared down at her phone mid-meal with a tight, troubled frown.

I asked what was wrong, and she turned toward me heavy-hearted.

“The boutique posted your bridal photos online, and they’ve blown up all over Instagram.”

Worry pricked at me; with Sam’s public standing, staying low-key was critical. “Why would they share our

photos without asking for permission first?”

Chloe held up her phone to show me the comment section with a grim expression.

“It’s not the shop’s promotional posts causing trouble. Someone’s claiming you’re his long-lost former

girlfriend he’s spent years hunting down to get back together.”

I blinked in total confusion and tapped open the problematic comment.

The account’s IP traced straight back to Jay, and his username clearly included his first name.

He filled the comment threads with sob stories about my cruel abandonment and over-the-top declarations

of obsessive, maddening love for me.

Unknowing online commenters fell for his act, vowing to use their connections to help track my location

down

I scrambled to brainstorm a solution when Sam pushed his glasses up his nose, his tone calm yet firm.

“Don’t stress over this, Grace. I’ll handle everything.”

His imposing assured aura settled my racing thoughts instantly, and I nodded firmly.

Seven days rolled around quickly. To spare me unnecessary exhaustion, Sam rearranged our wedding into an

evening reception dinner.

Td change every single detail if it keeps my princess Grace comfortable.”

Mid-makeup session, my phone blared an alarm. Opening it flooded my screen with dozens of desperate

regret-filled messages from Jay.

He ranted wildly about showing up to hunt me down no matter what.

My worst fear struck hard: Jay knew I was getting married and likely already nearby.

Where was he hiding right now? What did he plan to do to ruin everything?

Chloe noticed my anxious fidgeting and asked quietly what troubled me.

I forced a calm smile and stayed silent.

I feared he’d destroy the peaceful future I’d worked so hard to build.

My nerves only faded once I stepped onto the lush red wedding carpet and watched Sam climb out of his car

to greet me in a sharp tailored suit. Every detail of the day was flawless.

I slipped my arm through his, grinning from ear to ear as we walked toward the reception hall.

Standing at the altar, Sam locked eyes with me and recited his heartfelt wedding vows.

“Grace, you might not remember this, but back in our school days when everyone teased and mocked me,

you were the only one who stepped up to defend me like my personal superhero. I swore back then once I

grew into a man, I’d protect you, marry you, and spoil you like royalty.”

“Today I’ve earned that chance. Will you marry me, Grace?”

He reached for my hand to slide the wedding band on my finger when the grand venue doors slammed open

with a brutal kick

A furious roar echoed across the entire room.

“She won’t say yes! She’s never marrying you!”
