The CEO Postponed Our Wedding Nine Times For Her Chapter 01

The CEO Postponed Our Wedding Nine Times For Her Chapter 01

My boyfriend and my best friend got into another physical brawl at my wedding.

The scene was a chaotic mess, yet the guests seemed unfazed.

After all, including this time, it was the ninth delay.

My mother was absently chewing on some ice from her drink, suddenly casting a glance at me:

“Honestly, no matter how you look at it, those two seem like a better match.”

I froze.

She pointed at the two figures entangled on the floor:

“Handsome man, gorgeous woman—it’s easy on the eyes.”

“It’s just a pity they could never stand each other; that’s the only reason a plain girl like you got a lucky break.”

She sighed at me, her tone heavy with disappointment.

My boyfriend had that perfect V-taper and a towering presence that commanded the room; my best friend was drop-dead gorgeous with a statuesque silhouette that made her a natural showstopper.

They were indeed much more compatible than I was with him.

I snapped back to reality and, for the first time, didn’t argue with her.

I smiled and nodded:

“You’re right.”

“Besides being a ‘power couple’ in looks, they’ve shared a life-and-death ordeal.”

“Haha, even I’m lowkey shipping them myself.”

The two people wrestling on the floor froze simultaneously.

When I finished speaking, Chase and Sloane were in the heat of a fierce struggle.

Forehead to forehead, nose to nose.

I had never noticed it before.

When normal rivals fight, they shouldn’t be so close that their breaths mingle.

My mother gave me a look of pure disdain:

“You are making a complete fool of yourself.”

I ignored her, took off my ring, and tossed it in front of them.

“Sloane’s finger is the same size as mine anyway. The venue is ready; why don’t you two just take over the ceremony?”

Sloane reacted first, kicking Chase in the knee.

She ran over, grabbed my arm, and playfully tapped my head in a scolding manner:

“What are you talking about, you silly girl? Are you looking for trouble?”

I looked at her sculpted profile.

To avoid upstaging me at my wedding, she had intentionally applied unflattering makeup.

But no matter how she tried to hide it, she couldn’t mask the natural beauty of her features.

Seeing my silence, Sloane turned her gaze toward my mother:

“Mrs. Sterling, you’re Maya’s own mother. Saying things like that will really hurt her feelings.”

My mother gave a cynical smirk.

Growing up, Sloane had always defended me in front of everyone.

Because of that, I never felt a shred of jealousy toward her.

But compared to the unremarkable me, my mother always preferred the vibrant and proud Sloane.

When I first brought Chase home to meet the family, her first instinct was to say:

“Trying to prank your mother again? This guy must be Sloane’s boyfriend.”

I explained it several times, but she thought I was joking.

I forced a bitter smile.

Chase bent down to pick up the ring I had thrown away and slid it back onto my finger.

He spoke apologetically:

“Baby, don’t be angry. Let’s just fix ourselves up and continue.”

Ignoring the shattered glass everywhere, he led me back toward the altar.

But as we looked around, the officiant had already vanished during the earlier melee.

Chase looked awkward:

“Maybe we should postpone—”

“If we postpone again, it will be the ninth time.”

I looked into his eyes:

“Postponing nine times in three months… do you want me to be the laughingstock of the entire city?”

He went silent.

Sloane suddenly hopped onto the stage and grabbed the microphone.

“It’s just officiating; I’ve memorized the vows too.”

She tilted her chin at Chase:

“Get over there and stand still. Follow my lead.”

Chase looked like he was biting his tongue to keep from exploding.

As he stood before me, his eyes remained fixed on Sloane.

“Chase, do you take Maya to be your lawf—”

Chase suddenly interrupted with a frown.

“Sloane, can’t you use a better tone?”

“I’m marrying Maya; why do you sound like I owe you eight million dollars?”

Sloane rolled her eyes.

“Shut your mouth. If it weren’t for our Maya being willing, do you think I’d want to hand her over to you?”

Chase immediately snapped back:

“Oh, I’m so sorry, but Maya belongs to my family now.”

“You’re an outsider. Stop sticking your nose into our business as a couple.”

Sloane turned red with rage and hurled the microphone.

It hit the floor with a sharp, piercing screech that made my ears ache.

The two of them began brawling again over a single disagreement.

At some point, the ring on Chase’s finger slipped off.

Sloane didn’t notice and crushed it under her stiletto heel.

It shattered instantly.

Chase had designed that ring himself and commissioned a master jeweler to craft it.

He had spent entire nights, sleepless, sketching hundreds of drafts before finalizing it.

But now, he had discarded it so easily.

Just like his feelings for me.

I curled my lip in a mocking smile and turned to leave.

Suddenly, a stray glass shard flew toward me.

Blood immediately began to flow from my forehead.
