The CEO And His Ambitious Model Chapter 03

The CEO And His Ambitious Model Chapter 03

The reason was actually pretty simple.

Will and I were both new talents that Whitmore Media had discovered six months earlier.

He’d acted in a few web dramas, and had gotten a little famous.

I was still waiting for my big break.

Six months ago, I was working part-time at a restaurant in SOHO. That day, I was wearing ten-inch heels, carrying a tray between tables, holding my back straight as a pin.

That was when Theo noticed me.

He said I “walked like I owned the place”.

Later, his assistant found me, and said Whitmore Media wanted to sign me. Not as an actress—I couldn’t do that, I froze up in front of cameras—as a model. For runway shows, for magazine shoots.

On the day I signed the contract, Theo met with me personally.

In that bright, open office.

His assistant laid out a few development plans.

I picked the one about breaking into high society right away—the one with invitations to all the charity galas, brand events, socialite parties.

“Sure you don’t want to look at the others?”

Theo looked down, flipping through my profile.

I stared at his handsome face, distracted, and blurted out the truth without thinking. “I just want to meet Old Money people like you.”

Just as I expected, he scoffed.

He half-lidded his eyes, looking me up and down.

That day, I was wearing a past-season dress I’d gotten at a sample sale, and a pair of borrowed heels, trying my hardest not to look like a waitress.

“Flawless looks, proper manners, outstanding talent, a wealthy family—any proper Upper East Side socialite needs at least two of those.”

“And which one do you have?”

I stood up straight. I’m 5’10”, and with the heels I was almost 6’1”, so I could look him straight in the eye without tilting my head up.

“I’ve got one thing you don’t have.” I smiled. “Ambition.”

Theo froze for a second, then actually laughed.

That was the first time he’d ever smiled at me.

“I’ve got plenty of ambition.” he said. “But I respect your honesty.”

His assistant, though, muttered a little regretfully, “Her height is good, but… she’s too sharp, hard to control.”

I clutched the contract, silently cheering myself on in my head.

And so, every day after that.

Will worked hard on his scripts and acting classes, thinking about how to win awards in the future.

And I worked hard on my outfits and social etiquette, thinking about how to marry into an Old Money family.

Later, Theo started looking at me more and more, in stranger and stranger ways.

That weirdness made me think he didn’t hate me as much as I thought.

Until one day, I accidentally walked in on Theo yelling at Will.

That man was sitting high and mighty behind his desk, his eyes unreadable as he said,

“Stay away from Mia. You two aren’t on the same path.”

“If you don’t want her to drag you down, just focus on your own work, got it?”

“Got it.”

That was when I found out. Turns out, in his eyes, I was some kind of bad news.
