The Bullet Screen Says He Loves Me, But I Can’t Feel It Chapter 03

The hand I’d raised to knock curled into a tight fist.

Tears spilled down my face.

Gavin, you’ve got to be kidding me.

[Gavin didn’t show Sienna those messages on purpose. She only borrowed his phone to edit a proposal and happened to find them.]

[Sienna insisted on reading them aloud, and Gavin couldn’t suddenly blow up at her. Besides, you’re all he can think about right now. He didn’t even hear what she was saying. Don’t misunderstand!]

[Gavin just ordered the ring you like! He knows he went too far this time and is already planning to propose. If you go in and give in, Sienna will be out of Crosswell before you know it.]

Gavin’s phone had two layers of security.

No one but me could ever get into it.

And now Sienna had it in her hands, reading my messages aloud.

Gavin hadn’t stopped her.

That told me everything I needed to know.

Sienna was different in his eyes.

Special.

I closed my eyes for a moment, then raised my hand and knocked.

The room went quiet.

“Come in.”

I pushed the door open.

When he saw me, Gavin lifted his eyebrows in surprise.

I knew he had to be wondering.

I’d never knocked before when I came to his office.

“What is it?”

Gavin looked at me coolly.

I set my resignation letter and employee badge on his desk.

His brow furrowed.

He was about to speak when Sienna interrupted.

“A resignation letter?”

“Willa, you don’t actually have a problem with my promotion, do you?”

“Crosswell is Gavin’s company. Does he need your permission before he promotes someone?”

“Even if you’re his girlfriend, you’re overstepping. And now you’re using your resignation to threaten us?”

I let out a cold laugh.

“At least everything I have, I earned for myself.”

“You…”

Sienna was furious.

“Enough!”

Gavin frowned.

“Willa, stop making a scene.”

“You’re quitting just because I gave Sienna the director of client services position?”

“Do you really have to make this so hideous?”

I said nothing.

I only stepped back.

“This isn’t a threat.”

“My resignation is effective immediately. Starting tomorrow, I won’t be coming back to Crosswell.”

Gavin’s expression changed.

For a second, he looked like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Then he swept the glass on his desk aside in frustration.

The sharp crash echoed through the office.

Everyone froze.

Gavin looked like an enraged lion.

“Willa, what do eight years together mean to you? You can just walk away?”

“You think I can’t function without you?”

“Get out!”

“Get out right now!”

Then he pressed the phone button again.

“Disable all of Willa Hart’s system access immediately.”

“Tell security she’s no longer working at Crosswell. Have her leave the building now.”

When I returned to my desk, my computer had already been locked remotely.

Two security guards stood beside it.

“Ms. Hart, you can’t touch the computer from this point on. You may take only your personal belongings.”

“Please be quick. Mr. Cross wants you packed up within ten minutes.”
