The Blood Mirror Never Lies Chapter 04

The Blood Mirror Never Lies Chapter 04

In the memory, I didn’t pause for a second.

“I accept.”

“So quick to agree! But what if I told you someone else has to feed him this serum for it to work? Still want to do it?”

The alchemist leaned in closer. His voice was pure malice. “You save his life. But he will never know. He will think the one who feeds him is his true mate. He will give her his heart. He will give her everything.”

“Even so, do you still want to make the deal?”

I looked up. There was no hesitation in my eyes. “As long as he lives to see the night, it doesn’t matter who has him.”

A shocked gasp ripped through the noble vampires.

Trading immortal regeneration for someone else’s life. Asking for nothing in return. It was madness. They couldn’t understand it.

Valerius’s massive frame went completely rigid.

He stared blankly at the glass. The breath caught in his throat.

After he was poisoned, he remembered waking up. He found Tania by his bed, day and night.

She came to him in tears. She held a bowl of strange, sweet-smelling serum.

He drank it and miraculously healed.

When he asked where it came from, she sobbed. She said she risked her life going to the forbidden zone while he was out.

She claimed she drained half her own blood to buy the cure from an alchemist.

He believed her.

From that moment, he decided Tania was his future mate.

He broke our engagement. He showered Tania with gifts. He put her on a pedestal. He gave her every honor the Court could offer.

As for me… the mate he once promised eternity. He slowly pushed me away.

He resented me for acting so cold when he was dying.

While he got stronger, my body suddenly broke down.

I became weak and fragile. I couldn’t even handle a cold breeze.

To him, I was just useless trash. I didn’t deserve to stand next to the Lord.

He grew to loathe me. He cursed my weakness. He called me a lazy, spoiled princess.

Now, the Blood Mirror showed him the truth. It showed him that he was the reason I became this walking corpse.

I traded my immortal power for his life.

In the memory, the alchemist handed me a glowing black blood pact. “Sign it. Once you do, the deal is set.”

I sliced my wrist without thinking. My blood dripped onto the paper.

My massive lifeforce was instantly ripped away. I collapsed into the dirt. I coughed up black blood and twitched in agony.

My soul screamed and cried in confusion. It didn’t even understand what I had just done.

I fought through the pain. I took Valerius’s serum from the alchemist.

The scene cut again.

I dragged my broken body to Tania’s room.

I put the glowing vial on her vanity.

Then I hid outside the window. I watched her find the vial. I watched her smile and claim it as her own.

Only then did I turn around. I stumbled into the blizzard.

Back in the catacombs, Valerius lost his mind. His eyes burned crimson.

He snapped like a wild beast. He grabbed Tania by the throat. He slammed her into a stone pillar.

“You—how dare you lie to me!”

She crashed to the floor, shrieking. “No! Valerius! It’s not true!”

“She faked the memories! She’s setting me up!”

But the Blood Mirror was made by the First Vampire. It never lies.

Valerius looked up at me on the cross.

My skin was even paler and more cracked than before. My life was barely hanging on.

Now he finally understood why my body kept failing.

The whole time, I was carrying his death curse for him.

“Ahhh!”

He threw his head back. He let out a howl of pure agony.

He tried to rush the altar to stop the trial. The elders held him back.

“Lord Valerius, the blood pact is sealed! Once the trial starts, it cannot be stopped. Not until all memories are played, or the judged turns to ash!”

Valerius tore frantically at the silver chains. Above him, the Blood Mirror exploded. A third, blinding red light flared.

This time, the judging beam pointed straight into the crowd. It pointed straight at the deathly pale Cassian.
