The Billionaire Heir Called Me a Freeloader-I’d Bankrolled His Family for 600 Years Chapter 06

Nathan stared at the documents on the table, his face white with shock. Then he gritted his teeth, and his cheeks slowly flushed red.

“Claire, what exactly are you trying to do?”

He braced himself against the table’s edge.

“So what if the land belongs to you? The group has cash. We’ll buy it.”

He straightened, as if he were finally negotiating on familiar ground.

“The market valuation is three billion dollars at most. I’ll give you four billion. Have you ever seen an offer that big? Take the payment and get out of my sight.”

Several executives who hadn’t dared speak lifted their heads again.

“Nathan can handle this. We don’t have to be afraid of her.”

“Four billion dollars for a plot of land. What more could she want?”

I shook my head.

“Just because you want to buy it doesn’t mean I have to sell.”

I pulled the plastic chair over, sat down, and crossed my legs.

“It’s not for sale. I’m not taking offers. I want you out.”

Nathan’s jaw tightened.

“Keep saying no, and this won’t just be about the price.”

The conference room door suddenly swung open.

Richard hurried in, out of breath, his tie askew.

“Nathan, shut up.”

He strode to the table, shoved his son aside, and turned to me.

“Claire, I’m sorry. This is our fault, and he doesn’t understand what these agreements mean.

Please give me a little time to handle this.”

The shove forced Nathan back a step.

“Dad, what are you doing? She’s been living off our money all this time. Why are you apologizing to her?”

Richard raised a hand and slapped him hard across the face.

The sound silenced the entire conference room.

Nathan’s face turned with the blow. Several seconds passed before he looked back at his father.

Richard’s hand was still shaking.

“We’re the ones relying on her funds and resources. You announced you’d throw her out without even checking who owns the land beneath our headquarters?”

He looked at me again, his voice trembling.

“Claire, our headquarters is one of the company’s core assets. If we lose the land and office

space now, investors will question whether we can honor our commitments. The share price will plummet.”

I looked at him without getting up.

“I already gave you a chance, Richard. Your son and his fiancée decided to strip me of my

rights. You even called to demand that I accept a smaller share of the profits.”

Vivian covered her mouth, her eyes still fixed on the handprint on Nathan’s face.

Then she lowered her hand, as if she’d suddenly remembered something.

“Richard, our real core asset is the AI project Nathan brought back from overseas. Once it’s up

and running, our market value can double again. Without this place, we’ll build an even bigger headquarters in a newly developed area.”

She turned to the others and raised her voice.

“Atlas Capital is the lead investor. We have one of the world’s top institutions backing us. We

don’t need some landowner deciding the company’s future.”

Still holding his cheek, Nathan lifted his head, too.

“Exactly. You can take back the land. But I still have the AI project, and you can’t touch it.”

Hearing them bring up Atlas Capital again and again, I finally laughed aloud.

“Atlas?”

I took out a black encrypted satellite phone with no brand markings. I dialed a number and put

it on speaker.

The phone rang only once.

An older man answered.

“Claire, I’ve been waiting for your call. What do you need me to handle?”

Nathan and Vivian froze at the same time. They recognized the voice: George, the global president of Atlas Capital.

I looked at the phone on the table.

“George, are you funding the Whitmore Group’s AI project?”

“Yes. We’ve already put five hundred million dollars into the initial phase. Are you planning to change the arrangement?”

I tapped the table.

“Pull out.”

George didn’t hesitate.

“Understood. I’ll have Legal start the exit process under the investment agreement right away. We’ll stop all further disbursements within ten minutes.”
