The Billionaire Alpha’s Farming Luna: Too Late to Please the Herbal Queen! Chapter 04

Calder shook with rage.

“You… you still dare spout that nonsense? Do you want everyone to laugh at our family for having a delusional daughter?”

“If I hear you claim Bram is your mate one more time, I will beat you to death.”

In his fury, Calder brought the whip down several times in rapid succession, the intense pain making my entire body shudder.

Lifting my eyes, I realized his face was cold as he dipped the whip into salt water.

My voice trembled.

“Calder, I’m giving you one last chance. If you don’t stop, I’ll destroy the Ashford Pack.”

Hearing this, Calder’s rage only intensified.

The whip came down on me, hard and fast.

Under the agonizing pain, I finally couldn’t hold on any longer and blacked out.

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying back in the attic.

Just as I braced myself to sit up, Nell walked in carrying a pile of clothes.

She looked at me with pure contempt.

“Maren, don’t covet things that don’t belong to you. All you did was ask for trouble.”

“These are clothes I don’t want anymore. They might be a bit old, but they’re limited-edition French luxury brands. You’ve probably never worn anything like this in your life.”

With that, she threw the clothes into my face.

I coldly pulled the garments off. A musty odor hit my nose.

She must have gone to quite some trouble—digging up old rags from who knows where. Probably stuff even the servants wouldn’t touch.

Seeing me silently take the clothes, a flash of disdain crossed Nell’s eyes.

In her mind, I was just an ignorant, foolish woman—the kind who would bow and scrape the moment someone dangled something shiny in front of her.

She smiled triumphantly.

“Maren, I asked Dad to host a welcome banquet for you tomorrow night. Make sure you wear these beautiful clothes I gave you.”

With that, she swayed her hips and glided out the door, convinced she had finally put me in my place.

Right after Nell left, Calder showed up.

“Even though we can’t publicly announce your true identity, the necessary formalities still need to be observed. Dad and I are throwing a welcome banquet for you tomorrow. Powerful families from various packs will be attending.”

“I’m warning you, don’t run your mouth and embarrass the entire Ashford Pack.”

He tossed a necklace at me carelessly.

“I bought this for Nell, but she thought it looked too outdated. It suits someone your age perfectly. It’s yours now.”

I glanced at it—dull, lifeless, a design from years ago, and poorly crafted at that.

“Wear it to the banquet tomorrow. Stay close to Nell, watch your mouth, and keep a low profile.”

With that, he turned on his heel and strode off, probably thinking he’d been more than generous with me.

I tossed the jewelry aside without a second thought.

He had no idea that items like this had long been thrown into the trash bin on my own vanity table.

A text message chimed on my phone.

Bram: [Finally done with the research. Flying back. See you tomorrow.]

My lips curled into a slight smile as I typed back a response.

Maren: [I found my biological parents. They’re at the Ashford Pack. They are hosting a welcome banquet tomorrow night. Come pick me up.]

It was time for the Ashford Pack to face the consequences.
