Arthur, startled, grabbed a guard’s rifle and shot the lion and tiger behind the representative. 

But the two animals still knocked the representative down. His shoulder had a deep, bleeding scratch. 

Arthur called his private doctor, but the representative insisted the doctor treat me first. 

Arthur looked confused. “Mr. Cross, she’s just a failed con artist who tried to seduce my son–in–law and then blamed him for it. She’s not worth this.” 

Derek Cross looked at him like he wanted to set him on fire. 

“Newborn care specialist? Con artist? She is the chief investment strategist Transatlantic spent millions to hire. She is in charge of selecting our investment partner in this region.” 

“If anything happens to her, the entire investment plan falls apart. Billions in losses. Can you afford that?” 

Arthur finally realized he hadn’t imagined it. Derek had rushed 

in and called me “Chief Strategist Shaw.” 

His face went as white as a sheet. 

He didn’t dare think about what this meant. If I really was a 

senior executive at Transatlantic, what chance did his family 

have in the selection process after what he’d just done? 

Julian, foolishly, stepped forward. “Chief investment strategist? She’s a professional con artist.” 

“Why are you protecting her? Are you sleeping with her or something?” 

“Come to think of it, she’s way too young to be a strategist.” 

“If you want to cover for her, just say she’s your mistress. For your sake, maybe we’ll let her go. No need to lie about her being some executive.” 

Julian’s words made Arthur hesitate. 

He relaxed immediately, put his arm around Derek’s shoulder, and pulled him aside. He offered what he thought was the perfect solution. 

“Derek, look at this mess. If you had just told me she was your girl, I wouldn’t have brought out the animals to scare her.” 

“But this woman has nothing going for her.” 

“Not only does she cheat on you with other men, but she also goes around pretending to work for Transatlantic.” 

“Here’s what I’ll do. I’ll take care of her for you. Save the investment spot for me. Deal?” 

Arthur’s eyes gleamed with scheming. Anyone could see it. 

Derek’s face darkened with fury. 

He couldn’t believe Arthur was this shameless. 

He had injured the company’s expensive new hire, and now he was trying to bribe him. 

Derek refused outright. “Mr. Sterling, you’ve misunderstood. There is no improper relationship between Chief Shaw and 

me.” 

“She is the company’s chief investment strategist. I am her partner on this market evaluation trip. That is all.” 

“On behalf of the company, I reserve the right to pursue legal action against the Sterling family for defamation and personal injury.” 

“As for the investment spot, that’s a separate matter. Don’t 

confuse the two.” 

Derek made his position clear on the spot. 

Arthur hadn’t expected such a blunt refusal. He looked 

embarrassed. 

Sierra rolled her eyes and stepped up. “Dad, don’t listen to 

him.” 

“Why would a company as big as Transatlantic hire some woman barely out of diapers as chief investment strategist?” 

“Natalie is obviously his mistress.” 

“A man like him has no business being the regional representative for Transatlantic.” 

“Throw him in the enclosure with Natalie. Let them both be dog food.” 

Sierra’s eyes were vicious. She wanted Derek and me dead right there. 

Derek thought the whole family was insane. 

He picked me up off the ground with the intention of leaving. 

But Arthur’s men blocked his way. 

Looking at the two guards in front of him, Derek frowned and asked Arthur, “What is the meaning of this, Mr. Sterling?”
