The Arms Dealer Gave My Only Antidote To Her Chapter 01

The Arms Dealer Gave My Only Antidote To Her Chapter 01

When my arms dealer husband Declan Kane gave my one-and-only antidote to his first love, I didn’t collapse. I just looked up and asked him with a smile.

“Declan, if I die because of this, will you regret it?”

His fingers paused. Something flickered in his eyes—then went cold as steel.

“Don’t be dramatic. It’s just a cardiac stimulant. Mack, mix another dose for Mrs. Kane.”

His soft gaze was already glued to Tessa Miller.

I smiled bitterly. That serum was the only cure the system had given me. There wasn’t a second one on earth.

“System, start simulated death protocol.”

I stared at the red countdown as my blood chilled one degree at a time.

Seeing my paper-white face, Declan frowned and waved over a guard.

“Grind the Abyssal Peptide Complex I won into powder. Put it in her nutrition shake.”

He brushed my hair back, his voice almost soft for a second.

“I look out for Tessa because she reminds me of my little sister who died. Don’t be ridiculous.”

I smiled and said nothing. In my head, I told the system: start.

Eight years together. I loved him down to my bones. I really couldn’t do this anymore.

[System alert: Three hours until termination.]

Declan wiped a drop of medicine from Tessa’s lip with his thumb.

Tessa clutched the empty syringe, her eyes red.

“Mr. Kane, this medicine is too precious. Sloane looks really bad. Should I—”

He saw I wasn’t speaking, got pissed, and cut her off.

“Don’t worry about her.”

He peeled off his black tactical jacket and wrapped it around me, his cool fingers digging into my shoulders.

“Who are you making that dying face for?”

He grabbed my chin, forced my eyes to his, voice freezing.

“Fix your look. Tessa has a weak heart. Don’t disgust her.”

A sudden cramp twisted my stomach. I shoved his hand away. The jacket hit the floor.

System alert: Two hours, fifty-five minutes remaining.

Declan’s brow knotted hard. “Done throwing your fit?”

He towered over me, annoyed.

“It’s one shot. I’ll have the medic give you ten tomorrow. As many as you want.”

I looked up and locked my eyes on him.

“Declan, you can’t make more of this. The key ingredient is one of a kind. It’s my life.”

He laughed. Picked up the jacket slowly.

“Your life?”

He brushed imaginary dust off the fabric, pure disdain in his eyes. “Sloane, you’d make up that kind of lie just to get my attention.”

He tucked the jacket under his arm.

“Tessa, let’s go.”

Tessa tugged his sleeve, acting scared. “Mr. Kane, Sloane’s face… it’s really scary.”

Declan pulled her along and snorted.

“What new act is she putting on?”

At the door, just before it closed, he stopped. His dark eyes pinned me through the shrinking gap.

“Quit the dead look. Don’t test my patience.”

His voice dripped with irritation.

“Sloane. Behave.”

The door slammed. I collapsed on the couch, my fingers shaking. The smell of medicine stung through the empty living room.

[System alert: Potency fading. Organ failure accelerating. Two hours, forty minutes remaining.]

I grabbed the satellite phone and dialed his number.

It rang a long time. Then—casino noise in the background, his impatient voice.

“What now?”

“Declan, if I really die, will you regret it?”
