The Alpha Who Threw Me Away for a Ghost Chapter 04

The Alpha Who Threw Me Away for a Ghost Chapter 04

I offered a small smile. “Not a chance.”

Ten minutes prior, Alaric had arrived with a fleet of vehicles, unloading an absurd mountain of apology gifts. My father had immediately ordered our warriors to throw everything into the trash.

Instead of throwing an Alpha tantrum, Alaric had humbly instructed his Blood Moon warriors to pick every single item back up. They repeated this ridiculous back-and-forth several times, and within minutes, the spectacle topped the trending charts on the Silver Moon pack forum.

Alaric had completely dropped his arrogant Alpha posture, tumbling himself to offer a groveling apology to my father. Only then did my father finally instruct the guards to let him into the pack house.

Once inside, he acted as if he were walking into his own territory. He walked straight to the kitchen with practiced familiarity, dismissed the hired help who were supposed to be cooking, and rolled up his sleeves to prepare a meal himself, acting as though nothing had ever happened between us.

My parents exchanged uneasy glances, and Selene immediately pinged me via mind link: [The sheer audacity of this man is truly unmatched.]

I stared at Alaric’s retreating back, my thoughts swirling into a tangled mess.

My father let out a soft sigh. “What an absolute mess.”

My mother looked over at me. “Should we kick him out?”

My father, ever the diplomat, tried to keep the peace. “He seems genuinely remorseful. We all know the girl’s situation. This whole ordeal isn’t entirely Alaric’s fault.”

He patted my hand gently. “Give him one more chance to explain. If he messes up again, I promise I won’t let him cross this threshold ever again.”

Selene rolled her eyes violently behind my father’s back, which actually made me snort.

When Alaric emerged from the kitchen carrying the dishes, he caught me smiling and visibly relaxed, letting out a quiet sigh of relief.

He ushered us toward the dining table, acting more like the master of the house than my own parents.

Not wanting to publicly humiliate my father, I pulled out a chair and sat down.

Selene immediately claimed the seat to my left. Seeing Alaric moving toward the chair on my right, she quickly grabbed the backrest.

She flashed Alaric an utterly fake smile. “Seat’s taken.”

Right on cue, a tall, imposing figure strode into the pack house—it was Kael, Selene’s younger brother and my personal guard.

Kael had grown incredibly fast, standing a full head taller than me over the last few years.

Without saying a word, he took the seat to my right. He silently began cutting my meat, removing the bones, and piling all the prime cuts onto my plate.

Alaric watched the display, his face darkening like a terrifying thundercloud.

Midway through the meal, Alaric’s phone began to buzz.

A soft, delicate female voice echoed clearly through the quiet room. “Alaric, the final treatment is tonight. Aren’t you coming to be with me?”

The dining table plunged into absolute silence.

Alaric hesitated for a beat. “Your parents will be there with you.”

With that, he hung up.

My father’s tense expression softened slightly.

Only my heart remained completely cold, unsure whether I was mocking Alaric or myself.

Predictably, the phone rang again almost immediately.

This time, breathless gasps and frantic sobbing poured through the speaker. “Alaric, I only want you. It hurts so bad… Please come stay with me. This might literally be the last time we ever see each other…”

Clack!

My father slammed his knife and fork onto his plate.

Alaric glanced nervously at my father, then shifted his gaze to me. The veins on his hand holding the phone bulged violently.

I elegantly wiped the corners of my mouth with a napkin, keeping my tone perfectly light. “Go ahead.”

Alaric looked as though he had just been granted a royal pardon. He stood up instantly. “Joanna, wait for me to come back. I promise I’ll throw you a Mating Ceremony ten times grander than the last one.”

I had originally intended to let the matter drop for the night and discuss a clean breakup later, not wanting to ruin the evening’s mood.

But he just had to push his luck and disgust me.

I set my utensils down, methodically wiped my mouth again, and stood up as well. “I’ll come with you. I should probably see her one last time too.”

Alaric hesitated for a fraction of a second. “Alright.”
