The Alpha Who Killed Me Now Calls Me Mother Chapter 09 A Life Of My Own

Time moved quietly on, and my belly began to swell. Before long, I had entered the final stage of my

pregnancy.

Craig cared for me almost entirely by himself. He rarely let anyone else intervene. Every day, he walked with me through the garden and found some small present to bring me.

“Evelyn,” he said softly one afternoon, offering me a box. “This is for you.” A luminous pearl necklace lay inside. I looked at it without speaking.

“It is the largest pearl in all of Mooncrest Realm,” he added. A trace of nervousness showed as he pinched the chain between his fingers.

He relaxed, tucked it into his pocket, and asked, “What would you prefer? Tell me, and I’ll have it purchased at the next auction and sent directly here.”

His fingers combed carefully through my hair as if even the slightest touch might hurt me. Before I could answer, my phone vibrated with a text from Ashton.

“Are you doing all right, Evelyn?”

I closed the conversation without hesitation and tossed the phone aside.

This had become his latest habit. After a few quiet days, another message would arrive asking how I was. I never answered. Ashton only treasured what remained beyond his reach.

The instant something belonged to him, he considered it worthless.

I gave a cold laugh and dismissed him from my mind.

Over the following months, Jane abandoned the last of her disguise. She stole Ashton’s money, lost herself in nightlife, and indulged every appetite. Somewhere along the way, she contracted bloodrot fever, a contagious illness carried in the blood.

Even then, she clung to the same decaying life without caring what it did to her failing body. Meanwhile, my pregnancy finally reached full term.

I gave birth to beautiful twins, a son and a daughter.

“I love you both. My precious babies.” Craig held one infant in his arms, smiling helplessly as his eyes reddened.

When the twins were a month old, he held a magnificent celebration for our family.

Nobles from packs across Mooncrest Realm came to offer their congratulations.

I watched Craig share photograph after photograph of the babies, his face glowing with pride.

At the frontier, Ashton picked up his phone and prepared to send me another message. Instead, the screen filled with photographs from Mooncrest Court and announcements celebrating the twins’ birth.

He stared at an image of Craig cradling a baby with a joyous smile.

Pressure gathered in his chest as his thoughts drifted. How had everything ended up like this?

All of it should have been his. Then his gaze fell on the medical report beside him. He became perfectly still. The page clearly confirmed that he had tested positive for bloodrot fever.

Ashton turned and found Jane sitting on the couch with a faint, malicious smile. “You will never rule Mooncrest Realm now.” Her laughter cut through the unnatural silence of the room.

Cruel satisfaction and open delight shone across her face.

“How… how is this possible?” he stammered, struggling to remember every choice that had led him there.

“Have you forgotten how much you used to love me? Now you get to suffer with me.” Jane smiled, reclined against the couch, and quickly fell into a heavy sleep.

Ashton lost control. Every instinct screamed at him to find an antidote, but it was far too late. The bloodrot had already taken hold. News of his diagnosis soon reached Craig, who frowned as he absorbed it. “He is receiving exactly what he earned. We won’t waste another moment on him.”

Craig held the twins and gazed down at them tenderly. “They will never become the failure he did.”

As I watched him, relief settled over me. Ashton’s fate no longer mattered, and Craig stopped worrying about the son who had defied him at every turn.

He remained calm, steady, and entirely in command.

For the first time, I could live without fear. Not long afterward, I became pregnant again, this time with triplets: two boys and a girl. Mooncrest Court overflowed with life. The curse that limited each Alpha King to a single child had been broken, and our home never lacked laughter or warmth.

As for Ashton, his condition deteriorated. Bloodrot fever ravaged his body, leaving him in constant agony until the strain drove his pheromones out of control.

During the resulting frenzy, he killed Jane.

When Craig heard, he said only. “She deserved it.”

I made certain Craig knew the identity of every possible traitor around him. He returned safely from the

war.

Only then could I finally breathe freely.

From that day forward, I planned my life with care. At last, I lived in a peace and safety that truly belonged

to me.
