The Alpha King’s Real Daughter’s Return Chapter 05

The Alpha King’s Real Daughter’s Return Chapter 05 Blind to the Truth

By now, my clothes were torn and filthy, my face masked by blood. Under the effects of the silver poison. my aura was fading, fluttering like a dying flame.

My father paused, seemingly sensing something familiar. He was about to step closer when the Guard Captain took a step forward, blocking his path.

Bowing and scraping, a fawning grin fixed on his face. “Your Majesty! What brings you here?”

“Are you feeling unwell? I’ll summon the most renowned specialists in Silver Moon Hospital to examine you!”

My father glanced at him coldly, ignoring his frantic deflections.

Instead, he pointed toward my broken, dying form on the floor and demanded, “Who is that? Bring her over here. Let me see her.”

A flash of sheer panic crossed the Guard Captain’s eyes, but he quickly forced a smooth mask back on.

“Your Majesty, that’s just a low-ranking guard under my command. She failed to protect the princess today. so I’m simply disciplining her. You shouldn’t trouble yourself looking at her-it would offend your eyes.”

Not entirely convinced, my father took another step forward, intent on getting a closer look.

Desperate, the Guard Captain boldly shifted his weight, blocking his path for a second time.

My father’s face darkened, his expression souring visibly.

Nothing riled him more than defiant underlings who took it upon themselves to choose for him.

Because the Lycan Kingdom controlled vast territories across the continent, both humans and vampires watched us, waiting for a weakness.

As a result, I had never been allowed to leave the palace freely; most of my education was conducted by private tutors behind closed doors.

I wasn’t even permitted to have food of unknown origins, out of fear that vampires would seize any opportunity to poison me.

Yet once, driven by misplaced sympathy, a tutor decided it was unfair that I was locked away like a caged bird in a gilded cage, blind to the beauty of the outer world.

He helped me skip class, snuck me out to a bustling marketplace, and even bought me a candied apple along the way.

He forgot my father’s strict warnings never to take me outside.

As fate would have it, that candied apple was laced with poison. I was knocked over and abducted halfway through our journey.

That day, both my father and mother nearly lost their minds with grief and fury.

Even after they rescued me and rushed me to the royal hospital for emergency treatment, it was a miracle i survived. I had stared death in the face.

Just as my father’s temper was about to flare, Damian pushed his way to the front, offering a smile.

“Your Majesty, you might be overthinking this. Anyone important enough to catch your attention wouldn’t possibly be lying here in the dirt. I can vouch for the Captain; he is indeed just punishing one of his men.”

“She disobeyed direct orders and ran her mouth. She deserves a harsh lesson.”

Logically, the royal household would never employ such insolent guards.

However, my father was anxiety over finding me. After a brief hesitation, he chose not to press the issue further.

With my wolf core suppressed by the silver poison, my scent was heavy and ragged.

I dragged my body an inch forward, trying to make any kind of noise.

I’m right here!

Look at me!

Suddenly, my father paused. He spun on his heel, turning back toward the room.

But his eyes didn’t fall on me. Instead, he caught sight of Ethan, who was locked away in another room.

He ordered his men to support Ethan. “What happened to him?”

Then, he added, “Where is the woman who was with him?”

He remembered our phone call. He knew I was supposed to be with Ethan.

But after that call, my phone had died, leaving him with no way of reaching me again.

Damian hesitated for a second. “We haven’t seen any woman around here.”

Then, probing cautiously, he added, “What is your relationship to this woman, Your Majesty? Perhaps we can assist you in finding her?”

This time, my father remained silent.

To protect my safety, my father always acted as if we were strangers in public.

Even for tonight’s rescue operation, Soren had handled it personally.

Most of the royal guards had only been stationed on the perimeter, never getting close enough to know what I looked like.

He ordered his men to carry Ethan away. And then, without hesitation, he turned and walked out of the

room.

Summoning every ounce of strength left in me, I lunged toward a chair, slamming my weight into it.

The chair scraped against the floor, emitting a sharp screech.
