MAREN’S POV

But before that, I went to Elara’s room and found the phone she had been hiding.

I knew it wasn’t exactly right to do something like this. But to prevent her from causing trouble

before Brielle’s graduation exam, I had to step in a little.

After finding it, I took a picture and sent it to her parents and her year advisor. The rest was up to

them.

What I didn’t expect was that when Elara came home for lunch, she didn’t even bother pretending anymore. She threw her backpack onto the floor.

“Who gave you the right to go into my room?! And why did you tell the teacher on me? The year advisor told me to bring my phone to school this afternoon, and I won’t get it back until after the

graduation exam.”

I glanced coldly at the backpack lying on the floor.

“First of all, this is my house. I’m the one renting this place. I can go wherever I want. Second, I only went into your room because I was cleaning. I happened to find that you were hiding a smartphone. As your aunt, I’ve watched your grades drop with my own eyes. Of course I can’t just stand by and watch you keep going down the wrong path. That’s why I told your parents and your year advisor. But what happens next is their decision, not mine. I’m only doing this because I care

about you.”

Then I stepped over her backpack and called my daughter over for lunch.

Elara stayed silent for a while. Eventually, she bent down, picked up her backpack herself, and went

back to her room.

I didn’t call her out for lunch either.

After my daughter and I finished eating, I sent Brielle to rest while I washed the dishes and cleaned

the house.

But after thinking about it, I still took out one box of the cookies I had originally bought as snacks

for Brielle to bring to school and hung it on Elara’s doorknob.

Whether she ate them or not was her choice.

As far as I was concerned, I had done everything an aunt was supposed to do.
