Sold by My Mate, Claimed by Another Alpha Chapter 09

The despair in my voice stunned both men into silence.

“Emilia, we never wanted your life!”

“We just wanted you to stop being so willful. Please, don’t be angry anymore. Come back with us, okay?”

Their pounding made the door vibrate against my back until it went numb.

I couldn’t help answering.

“No. I don’t want to live anymore.”

“When I was first thrown into prison, I wanted to live. So I waited for you every day, hoping you’d come get me. But you never came. All that came was Clara’s revenge. She shattered my leg and tortured me for six hundred days and nights.”

“When I first got back to Ashenfang Pack, I wanted to live. So you sent me to Grimwood Pack and left me to bear all of Christian’s fury alone.”

“When Christian sent me to the club to learn my place, I still wanted to live.”

“So Xavier bought me. To get revenge for the past, he tormented me all night and left me believing I’d been infected with HIV.”

“Even then, I still thought I should keep living for my mother. At the very least, once I was free, I wanted to find a grave and bury her ashes with me someday.”

“But Clara told me those weren’t my mother’s ashes. She said my mother’s ashes were blasted into the sky by your fireworks a long time ago.”

“Now I don’t want to live anymore.”

The wolfbane was spreading through my body. My tongue was getting thick and clumsy.

But there was one good thing about it.

I couldn’t feel the pain as clearly anymore.

That was a blessing.

Outside the door, both men were already sobbing.

“We didn’t know. Clara did all of that behind our backs…”

Their voices started sounding as though they were coming through layers of paper, distant and blurred.

When Cassian and Rafael got no response from me for too long, they panicked and called people over to break the door down.

The second it burst open, my body, which had been propped against it, collapsed to the floor with a dull thud.

“Emilia!”

They rushed to me in chaos, lifting me up with shaking hands.

Their hands trembled as they cupped my face.

“Emilia, don’t fall asleep. The Pack doctor will be here any second.”

“We know we were wrong. We thought forcing you to learn your place was for your own good, but we never imagined you’d suffer this much…”

Darkness had already swallowed most of my sight, and I couldn’t make out their faces anymore.

With the last of my strength, I pushed their hands away from my cheeks.

“Don’t… don’t pretend now. You were cold-hearted and ungrateful, and now you want to blame it on someone else.”

“Cassian. Rafael. I never believed I owed either of you anything, and yet you still destroyed me.”

“If there is a next life… I only hope… I’ll never have anything to do with you again…”

After those words, my hand dropped.

And I never woke again.

I thought it was finally over.

In that drifting darkness, I saw a beautiful woman. Then I saw a white wolf—my wolf, Nyla. I couldn’t make out the woman’s face, but something about her felt warm and familiar.

“Who are you?”

“You don’t know?” I sensed her smiling, gentle and bright through the haze.

“You were the one praying at my altar every night.”

My eyes widened in shock.

“The Moon Goddess?”

“You’re… the Moon Goddess?”

She only smiled.

“Am I dead? Am I going to be reunited with my mother?”

“No, my dear. You are not dead. You’ve only passed through a trial of fate. Child, no matter what happens, you must go on living.”

My eyes filled with tears.

“No. That can’t be true. My wolf is gone, and I have HIV.”

“Xavier lied to you, sweetheart. He only said it because you rejected him. And as for Nyla, she never left you. Be brave, child. You will form a bond with her.”

Maybe the Moon Goddess really had taken pity on me.

I woke up.

In my dream, I had watched Cassian and Rafael carry my “body” out of the club.

That night, the moon was full, just like the one on the night I was born.

Cassian and Rafael knelt in front of my grave and wept there in silence until morning.

The very next day, Cassian filed murder charges against Clara.

The facts were clear. The evidence was overwhelming. Clara was quickly arrested and sentenced to life in prison.

But before she went in, she had one last move ready.

After she was locked up, she transferred every share Christian and Rafael had given her to Alpha Christian Blake unconditionally.

All she wanted in exchange was a chance to stay alive.

But Christian Blake was not a man anyone could bargain with.

He was ruthless, vicious, and impossible to control.

So he took the shares, then arranged for Clara to be taught a lasting lesson in prison.

First, she was beaten until half her body was left crippled.

Then someone forced a muting drug down her throat.

After that, Clara never had a voice again.

And me?

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was Christian’s amber gaze.

He had saved me, but beyond that, there was nothing between us.

I lived in Grimwood Pack, not as an Alpha heiress and not as one of Alpha Christian’s honored guests.

But I did get a job.

At Grimwood Pack, they hired me as the Pack’s figure-skating coach.

Christian quickly became the largest shareholder in Rafael’s and Cassian’s company.

Not long after, he swallowed both Alphas’ businesses whole.

In the pack territories, two packs vanished almost overnight.

Grimwood Pack, meanwhile, only grew stronger.

The news hit former Alpha Theodore Drake so hard that he fell gravely ill and died within days.

As for Cassian and Rafael, overnight they became like stray dogs with no home.

Their Beta took what remained of their pack and defected to Grimwood Pack.

Power, love, family—they lost all of it.

Even the villa that held the few scraps of memory I had left was reclaimed by Grimwood Pack.

Cassian and Rafael came to hate Christian with everything they had.

So on a full-moon night after they held my “funeral,” they drove a heavy truck straight at Christian’s sedan in what was practically a suicide attack.

As for how it ended, I no longer cared to know.

I only watched their story reach its end in silence.

Then I turned and walked away.

From this moment on, I was going to live a life that belonged to me.
