Silenced Omega Chapter 16

Silenced Omega Chapter 16

Camden stared at the screen for several seconds, then put the phone away without replying.

At that moment, Archer was dragging a nearly unconscious Laney toward the riverbank.

The current was brutal. Several times, they were almost torn apart.

But he never lost his grip on her.

His face was covered in blood. A deep gash on his forehead was cut so deep it exposed bone.

A bullet had torn through his left shoulder, ripping the muscle and exposing the white of his humerus.

Yet his eyes remained sharp.

He was an injured wolf, but even in desperation, he hadn’t lost his instinct to survive.

After drifting for what felt like an eternity, they finally made it to shore.

In the distance lay a dark forest, the faint cries of night birds echoing through the trees.

The pheromone-blocking formation ended here.

Beyond this point, they were in normal territory. Their scents would return, and their pursuers would be able to track them again.

Archer dragged Laney behind a large rock and quickly checked her injuries.

The cast on her leg was loose. The gash on her forehead was still bleeding. Worst of all, she was severely hypothermic, her breathing shallow and weak.

Archer’s hand hovered over her gland, his Alpha pheromones fluctuating.

“They put an inhibitor chip in you.”

His voice was soft, but Laney could hear the suppressed rage in it.

In the werewolf world, implanting an inhibitor chip in an Omega was a grave crime.

It was a punishment reserved for the most heinous offenses, and only after a judgment by the Alpha Council.

But Camden hadn’t bothered with a trial.

He had acted as judge, jury, and executioner.

He knew no Alpha would stand up for an Omega accused of harming another Omega.

Archer took a deep breath, forcing down the surge of killing intent.

From a waterproof pouch he kept close to his body, he took out a small vial of moonlight potion and a roll of gauze.

“Hold on,” he said quietly. “We have to leave. They won’t stop.”

Laney nodded weakly.

An Alpha’s sense of smell was far more powerful than a human’s. It wouldn’t take long for Camden and Preston’s men to find them.

Near dawn, they saw a small, remote fishing port ahead.

“We’ll go there first,” Archer said. “You need dry clothes and food.”

But before they could get close, Archer stopped abruptly.

His body went taut.

His Alpha pheromones flared.

Trackers.

More than one.

Laney mouthed, “What’s wrong?”

Archer didn’t explain. He quickly hid her under an overturned fishing boat and lowered his voice.

“Stay here. No matter what you hear, don’t come out.”

Laney reached for him, but he was already gone, deliberately making noise as he led the hunters in the opposite direction.

Almost at the same time, three figures emerged from the shadows of the forest, moving swiftly toward the sound.

These weren’t ordinary thugs.

They were professional hunters, men who specialized in taking down high-ranking werewolves.

Preston hadn’t just sent his own men. He had hired the most ruthless hunters in the underground.
