Silenced Omega Chapter 12

Silenced Omega Chapter 12

Eight years ago, she was the one who rushed into that fire.

She had carried an unconscious Camden out of the conference hall on her back. A falling beam had struck her left arm, and it still ached whenever the weather turned damp.

The time Preston fell into the water, it was Laney who jumped into the freezing lake and dragged him to shore.

Afterward, she’d developed severe pneumonia and spent a week in the hospital.

How could Genevieve have done those things?

Genevieve had always despised Preston for his background, thinking that even looking at him was beneath her.

“Ah—”

A raw, broken sound tore from Laney’s throat, not human at all.

She wanted to scream the truth.

“Still making trouble?” Preston frowned.

“Guards.”

Four large Beta men rushed in and rained punches and kicks down on Laney.

She could only curl into a ball on the cold floor, her arms wrapped around her head.

“Enough.” It was Camden who finally spoke. “Take her away.”

As she was dragged from the ward, she saw Genevieve at the other end of the hall. Her parents were coaxing her to eat a cup of Jell-O.

Genevieve met her eyes and slowly mouthed two words.

“Goodbye forever.”

Laney closed her eyes and went limp.

The black SUV left the hospital and wound its way up the mountain road toward the suburbs.

The sky grew darker.

Suddenly, a pair of glaring headlights shone straight at them.

At the same time, another car sped up from behind.

They slammed into the SUV from both sides.

The violent crash echoed through the mountains.

Laney was trapped in the crumpled back seat. Blood streamed down her forehead, blurring her vision.

Gasoline leaked from the ruptured tank, the choking smell making her dizzy.

A man got out of the car in front of them.

It was one of Preston’s men.

He stood a short distance away, looked at her, and drew a finger across his throat.

Preston wanted her dead.

A spark met the gasoline, and flames erupted.

A wave of heat washed over her face. Laney beat desperately against the car window, but it was no use.

She turned and looked into the distance.

Several cars were parked along the road. Camden’s men.

They just stood there. No one moved to save her.

The fire grew, roaring around her.

Thick smoke poured into her lungs, scraping like knives.

Laney’s vision blurred.

Just as she thought she was about to die, a dark figure rushed into the flames.
