She Took Over My Perfect Life To Get Revenge, Only To Be Trapped In My Hell Chapter 03

On my first day of training, I only walked on the treadmill for ten minutes.

Sweat soaked through my back.

My heart pounded like it was trying to break out of my chest, and my legs shook so badly I could barely stand.

My trainer told me to stop, but I gritted my teeth and kept going.

“Five more minutes.”

Every time I’d worked out before, my mother would stand behind me holding a scale.

Now, no one was forcing me.

But somehow, I walked even steadier.

When the fifteen minutes were up, I leaned against the treadmill and gasped for air.

The girl in the mirror was red-faced, hair plastered to her forehead. A total mess.

But I smiled at her.

“Maya. Day one. Done.”

For the next week, I did brisk walks every morning and basic strength training every afternoon.

Her body was in rough shape.

Ten squats left my legs trembling. I couldn’t hold a plank for more than fifteen seconds, and my knees ached whenever I pushed too hard.

I didn’t force it.

When I hurt, I rested. When I was hungry, I ate.

The number on the scale barely changed, but I’d lost more than an inch off my waist.

On the eighth night, someone suddenly tagged me in the students group chat.

[Maya, heard you got a gym membership. For real?]

Seconds later, someone dropped a candid shot into the chat.

In the picture, I was wearing an oversized workout shirt, drenched in sweat and struggling through a brisk walk on the treadmill.

The group instantly filled with laughing emojis.

[Does she really think she’s going to pull this off?]

[Someone better warn the gym owner she’s coming.]

[Don’t bother trying to change. If you actually think you can surprise everyone before school starts, good luck.]

Then someone deliberately tagged Seraphina.

[What do our legend beauty think?]

A few seconds later, Maya appeared under my identity.

She sent a hand-over-mouth laughing emoji, then pretended to play peacemaker.

[Guys, stop. It’s really brave of her to want to change.]

[But she needs to know her limits. She shouldn’t push herself so hard just to keep up with me.]

Someone immediately chimed in.

[Compete with you? Compete with you? She’s got a long way to go.]

[Seraphina’s too nice. She’s actually standing up for her.]

Maya messaged me.

[See that? No matter how hard you try, you’re still a joke.]

[School starts in two months. I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction when they see you.]

I didn’t argue.

I muted the group chat and went back to preparing my clean meal prep for the next day.

Looks aren’t changed by running your mouth.

In two months, they’d see.

I placed the eggs in the pot and set the timer.

The glass reflected the unfamiliar shape of my new body.

I reached up and gently touched the face I barely recognized.

“No rush.”

“This time, I’ll walk onto campus with my head held high.”
