She Took Over My Perfect Life To Get Revenge, Only To Be Trapped In My Hell Chapter 02

That afternoon, I went to the hospital for a full physical.

The doctor reviewed my test results and adjusted his glasses.

“Your results show that your body needs some attention, especially when it comes to your overall health.”

“On top of that, some of the things you’d done to change your body had taken a serious toll.”

“But with the right support and some healthy changes, you can feel much better.”

I gripped the medical report, my eyes burning.

He gave me one more warning.

“Look, at your current weight, don’t push it.”

“No fasting, no running yourself into the ground, and don’t fall for those extreme promises of overnight transformation.”

“Get your body healthy first. The weight’ll come off.”

I nodded seriously.

I had exactly two months before Kingsley University started.

I wasn’t going to put myself through another extreme transformation.

And I sure as hell wasn’t going to repeat the extreme methods I’d been forced to endure before.

This time, I just wanted to get this body healthy.

After the hospital, I went straight to a nutritionist and joined a gym.

The nutritionist gave me a detailed meal plan.

Carbs, protein, vegetables. Nothing was missing.

I looked at the grilled chicken and salad on the page and couldn’t help laughing.

My mother used to prepare so-called clean meal prep for me, too.

But it wasn’t food.

Tiny portions for breakfast. Barely anything for lunch. A miserable excuse for dinner.

If the number on the scale didn’t change, I’d be forced to work out even harder the next day.

Now, my nutritionist was telling me seriously, “Don’t starve yourself, and don’t chase some insane amount of weight loss in a month.”

“You’re trying to get healthier, not punish yourself.”

My eyes burned. I nodded hard. “Okay.”

When I got home, Linda put on her reading glasses and studied the meal plan.

“Chicken breast doesn’t taste half as good as ribs.”

She grumbled, but the next morning she was at the market before dawn.

She came home with the freshest beef, shrimp, and vegetables she could find.

Frank went even more over the top.

The moment he heard I wanted to exercise, he found a used treadmill through the neighborhood group chat.

He hauled it upstairs with a neighbor, both of them grunting with effort.

“Sweetheart, take it easy.”

He wiped the sweat off his face, smiling.

“A few pounds either way doesn’t matter. What matters is you’re healthy.”

I looked at them, my heart aching and softening all at once.

Maya, you’re such an idiot.

You thought they were poor. You thought they were an embarrassment.
