The doctor looked conflicted, but Killian had already lost his 

patience. 

“So what if you just gave birth?” he snapped. “When you got 

into that car accident, wasn’t Clara the one who donated blood for you? Drawing a little blood won’t kill you! But if we don’t get blood into Clara right now, she’s going to die!” 

As everyone descended into chaos around me, confusion 

twisted inside me instead. 

I turned toward the Arcane Pact. 

“I’m already dead. So why are they still trying to save me?” 

[You already died. But because they started treatment 

immediately, your body can still hold on a little longer.] 

[That’s also why your soul is trapped here instead of passing 

on.] 

Understanding finally dawned on me. 

Killian ignored Hazel’s refusal entirely and shoved her 

straight into the blood donation room. 

Then he stood there silently for a long moment before pulling 

out his phone and calling his assistant. 

“Go buy the strawberry cake from that bakery on the west side 

of downtown. Bring it to the hospital immediately.” 

After hanging up, he muttered softly to himself, 

“She loves their strawberry cake. If she sees it the moment she 

wakes up, sne’ш derinitely be nappy.” 

Floating above him, I almost laughed at how absurd it 

sounded. 

I really had loved that bakery’s strawberry cake once. 

Back then, he used to buy one for me almost every day. 

But at some point, he stopped. 

Instead, he started bringing home mango cakes from another 

bakery across town. 

Hazel’s favorite. 

As for strawberry cake? 

I’d stopped eating it a long time ago. 

He still thought I was the same girl from before. The kind who 

would treasure even a worthless rock if he handed it to me. 

But this time was different. 

I was already dead. 

I didn’t know how much time had passed before Hazel and I 

were both transferred into the ICU. 

A bitter smile tugged at my lips. 

I stared at the heart monitor attached to my body, watching the steady rhythm pulse across the screen as though I were 

still alive. 

No wonder Killian refused to give up. 

He didn’t even spare Hazel a glance despite her lying unconscious nearby. 

Instead, he stayed beside my bed without moving an inch. 

He carefully took out a clean handkerchief and wiped the blood from my face little by little. 

But the trembling in his fingers betrayed how shaken he really 

was. 

Suddenly, his hand stilled. 

Then his fingertips gently brushed against the scar above my 

eyebrow. 

The scar I got saving him from his nanny all those years ago. 

Back then, stopping her hadn’t been easy. She’d slashed at me 

with a knife, the blade catching my brow bone and leaving 

behind a thin scar. 

Thankfully, it had missed my eye. 

Killian rubbed that scar over and over, lost in thought. 

Then suddenly, a drop of water landed on my face. 

Another followed. 

And another. 

Killian panicked and hurriedly wiped them away. 

That was when I realized he was crying. 

But no matter how desperately he tried, the tears wouldn’t 

stop. 

Eventually, he gave up entirely and collapsed against my body, sobbing uncontrollably. 

A long time later, he finally calmed down. 

As though remembering something important, he quickly picked up the strawberry cake his assistant had delivered and held it up in front of me almost like a child showing off a 

treasure. 

“Look,” he said hoarsely. “I bought your favorite cake. You haven’t had it in forever.” 

But I remained motionless in the hospital bed, unable to 

respond. 

He slowly set the cake aside and clasped my hand tightly 

between both of his. 

Then he pressed his face against my palm and rubbed against 

it gently. 

“Clara… I’m sorry. I can’t lose you. Please wake up.” 

His voice broke. 

“I picked out the best cemetery plot for the baby. When you wake up, we’ll go visit together.”
