She Stole My Comic Ending And My Crush Chapter 12

She Stole My Comic Ending And My Crush Chapter 12

Before I could answer, Brielle raced through the residence-hall doors.

“Mira!”

“You bitch!”

She charged toward me like a flame and raised her hand before her footing was steady.

I did not have time to react.

Adrian caught her wrist before the slap landed. Shock, embarrassment, and anger crossed his face.

“Brielle, what are you doing?”

She threw her arms around him. “You can’t talk to her.

“She attacked me yesterday. She never means anything good.”

“What?”

“She was the roommate who drew the comic.”

Adrian stared at me in disbelief, then turned back to Brielle.

“Whatever happened between you, you can’t hit her.”

I watched their argument with no desire to remain part of it.

Brielle stepped into my path. “You weren’t leaving until you explained…”

“What’s going on?” a man asked behind me.

He carried a large box and deliberately wedged it between Brielle and me. I backed away to create more

space.

He set down the box. “I returned to campus two days ago.

“How did this much happen while I was gone?”

Then he faced me.

“It’s been a long time, Mira.”

It was Miles Bennett.

Perhaps the arrival of a fourth person finally embarrassed Brielle into silence. She lowered her head and

avoided all of us.

I used the opening to leave.

Miles walked beside me all the way to the mathematics building.

“Do you need help?” he asked.

I shook my head. “Thank you, but no.”

He smiled and did not press.

That afternoon, someone submitted a photograph of Adrian and me standing outside the residence hall to Kingsley Confessions.

[Kingsley Confessions, help me identify this woman. I think I fell in love at first sight.]

Commenters quickly recognized both people in the photograph as figures from the recent campus scandal.

When Keira showed me the post, I was still working on the same proof.

“I know this sounds paranoid,” she said, “but it feels like Brielle submitted the picture herself.”

The comments had already twisted the photograph into another impossible story. I felt only tired.

Why did she keep reaching for the same weapon?
