She Stole My Comic Ending And My Crush Chapter 09

Brielle inserted a first-person recording from our suite. Half of my face appeared at the edge of the frame.

Onscreen, she said in a tearful voice, “I was sorry I borrowed your idea. I only wanted to be brave once.

“Was that wrong?”

“Could we please not let this ruin our friendship?”

Then came my cold answer: “You and I weren’t going to be friends anymore.”

The video ended with Brielle looking into the camera.

“At the time, I didn’t know she liked my boyfriend too. If I could go back, I would give up the man I had loved for two years rather than lose our friendship.”

Nearly every comment beneath it attacked me.

[I’d never heard of that comic until Brielle. The roommate is obviously using her for attention.]

[High intelligence doesn’t equal good character. This is Exhibit A.]

The rest were uglier.

Jealous pick-me. Delusional fangirl.

Boy-crazy roommate. A woman who tore down other women for male attention.

The post had been spreading for less than a week.

In the last two days, several users noted that identifying the only woman among the math cohort’s top five

would not be difficult.

For one bewildered moment, I could not think.

Did Adrian, as Brielle’s boyfriend, know she was saying these things? Was he allowing it?

I wondered whether my memory had somehow rewritten him. How else could the boy I loved have become someone I no longer recognized?

Jocelyn exploded first.

“That deceptive editing was unbelievable. She reversed the entire story and counted on us not spending

enough time online to see it.”

I patted her back until she calmed down, then asked Keira to record a clarification statement.

Natalie had already opened the app and begun writing a response.

[Why didn’t you include the part where all three roommates called you out?

Was it because viewers would learn you knew about Mira’s feelings and secretly used her unpublished work to confess to the man she liked?]

The comment disappeared less than ten seconds after Natalie posted it.

Everyone stared at the screen. Even the woman who had insulted me finally began to understand.

I opened my creator dashboard and faced Keira’s camera.

“First, I completed the finale three weeks before Brielle’s confession. The platform’s review timestamps and

scheduled upload records proved I didn’t copy her.”

“Second, the person who inspired my male lead gave me permission to use him. I still intend to obtain his consent before releasing any private messages.”

“Third, I ended my friendship with Brielle because she took my unpublished creative work without my

knowledge.”

“That might not support a copyright lawsuit by itself, but I have every right to remove her from my life.”

I held the phone steady. “None of those facts depend on whom I do or do not like.

“Is that clear?”

The woman who had insulted me apologized immediately.

“Your accusation and the way you spoke to me caused real harm,” I said. “If you mean the apology, I expect you to correct this story whenever you see it repeated.

She nodded several times.

“May I post this recording? Your faces aren’t visible.”

Her cheeks reddened. “Of course.

“Your explanation is logical, and the evidence forms a complete chain. I let the outrage take over.

“I’m sorry.”

Keira lowered the recording phone.

Only then did I add, “I assume anyone admitted to Kingsley’s math program knows how to analyze a claim Next time, don’t let someone use you as a weapon.”
