I opened the creator’s profile and recognized her as one of the art students who often visited Brielle.

Then I deleted TikTok from my phone.

In the weeks that followed, I studied, ate, and slept exactly as I had before. From the outside, nothing

changed.

Occasionally, classmates talked excitedly during breaks.

“Adrian brought his girlfriend to lecture this morning. She was even prettier in person.

“They were such an unfairly attractive couple.”

“I heard he gave each of her closest friends a Tiffany pendant. Would you please date someone like that for my sake?”

“That would require finding someone else like Adrian.”

I kept my head down and returned to the proof I still had not solved. I was not in a hurry.

Every real problem had a solution. I only had to remain patient enough to find it.

had burned me.

He picked up the page and studied the equations. “You’re working on this problem too?”

I forced myself to look at Adrian.

In all the versions I had imagined, our first formal meeting happened beneath the sunset on Founders’ Lawn.

It was supposed to be deliberate, romantic, and impossible to hide.

Not rushed. Not awkward.
