She Rolled The Dice On Our Marriage And He Let Her Win Chapter 06

“Follow-up?”

Callum’s grip tightened around the phone.

Maren was sick? And she hadn’t told him?

The woman on the other end didn’t give him time to think.

“Yes. Her follow-up after the termination. Ms. Vey discharged herself early, and we were worried.”

“Hello? Sir?”

Callum froze. So it was true.

Maren had ended the pregnancy. It hadn’t been an angry threat.

But she had wanted that baby. She had told him more than once that she wanted a child with him.

After he got pregnant, she had asked him again and again to come with her to prenatal appointments.

He had never gone.

All his time had gone to Bria.

How disappointed did Maren have to be before she made that choice?

Only then did Callum understand what he had done.

Maren hadn’t left because of one fight, or one lie, or one broken locket.

She had left because he had made hurting her feel normal.

And he had been stupid enough to think she would keep taking it.

Could he blame Bria?

No.

Because the person who had done all of this was him. Stupid, arrogant him.

He crushed the medical record in his hand.

Then he went up to the attic and sat all night in front of their wedding portrait

In the photo, Maren smiled softly, beautiful enough to take his breath away.

Back then, Bria had said the wedding portrait looked ugly in the living room, so he had taken it down.

He hadn’t even asked Maren.

Had that been when her smile started to fade?

Tears slid down Callum’s face. They fell onto the love letter Maren had written him seven years ago, staining

the paper.

“Maren, I’m sorry. I’m coming to find you. I’ll win you back,” he clenched his fist and made the vow in silence.

While looking into Maren’s whereabouts, Callum discovered a shocking secret.

Maren had never been a helpless orphan.

She had a grandfather.

Gideon Vey.

Years ago, he had been a Wall Street power broker, the kind of man who could move markets with a single

decision.

After losing his only son and daughter-in-law, he had withdrawn from business and turned most of his

attention to philanthropy.

Why had Maren hidden that from him?

Forget it.

When he found her, he would ask her in person.

Callum canceled every meeting on his schedule for the week and boarded the earliest flight to Westmere

Bay.

The city blurred past the window, and Callum’s panic slowly hardened into certainty.

He would find Maren.

He would bring her back.

He would love her properly this time, make up for every wound he had given her over the past fiv

Then he arrived at the meeting place and saw her.

Maren Vey stood a few steps away, calm and alive and impossibly distant.

Her hand was in another man’s.
