She Dressed Me Like Bait, Not Knowing the Shark Was My Brother Chapter 09

She Dressed Me Like Bait, Not Knowing the Shark Was My Brother Chapter 09

It was a cheap, skintight, trashy dress, even shorter and more revealing than the one she’d forced me to wear. It looked straight out of a low-budget strip club.

Only this time, she was the one being told to put it on.

“I was hired as an administrator, not a cocktail waitress,” Emily said, her face pale as she tried to

hold on to what little dignity she had left.

His hand struck her cheek.

“Don’t give me that attitude,” the boss said coldly. “This is what you did at your last job, right? So

why the act all of a sudden?”

“Listen to me, you washed up has been. Nobody else will hire you. I’m the only one doing you a

favor.”

“A few guys get a little handsy, who cares? You do what I say from now on.”

Emily’s eyes filled with tears. Her hands were shaking.

The boss lit a cigarette and laughed. “You can stay home if you want. But then you don’t get your trial period pay. And no bonus. Do you really want that? How are you gonna make your rent then, huh? Pay your credit cards?”

Emily stood there, trembling. Her last bit of pride crumbled into dust. Without a word, she picked up the dress and walked into the bathroom.

The woman staring back at her in the mirror wasn’t the smug, powerful Emily Foster anymore. She

was just another desperate woman, bowing and scraping for a few thousand dollars.

That night, Emily got drunk off her ass while greasy clients pawed at her,

She didn’t fight back. She didn’t throw her drink in their faces.

She couldn’t, because this time, there was nobody to play the game with her. Nobody to take the

blame.

She had planted the seeds. Now she was reaping what she sowed.

Karma’s a bitch.

“You think when she was forcing you into those dresses, she ever thought she’d be the one wearing them?”

I looked out the window at the city skyline and felt nothing.

“Who knows?” I said quietly. I didn’t feel anything for Emily anymore. Not satisfaction. Not pity.

She wasn’t worth the emotion.

People like her were just obstacles in the way. I stepped over them and kept walking on. I didn’t look

back.

My future was far too long and far too bright to waste another second on her. She could keep drowning in the swamp she built for herself.

She should have thought ahead.
