She Carried His Child, So I Fled with His Twins Chapter 06

[Luca’s POV]

Just as Bianca’s vital signs stabilized, the baby’s condition suddenly crashed.

His face turned a terrifying shade of blue, his breathing ragged and weak. The private hospital’s doctors were in a panic, helpless against the severe congenital heart failure.

In the VIP room next door, Bianca was clutching her chest, sobbing into her pillow. “Luca, our son… he can’t die! You have to save him!”

I felt completely cornered, pacing restlessly back and forth in the sterile-smelling corridor.

Desperate, my father pulled every string the family had and finally managed to locate the top pediatric cardiologist in the city.

Everyone just called him “the Doctor.”

He wasn’t on staff at any hospital, but every man in the Five Families he’d pulled back from the brink

owed him a debt.

However, as soon as the old man stepped into the VIP emergency area, he merely glanced at the baby and his face instantly fell. Without even putting down his medical bag, he let out a cold snort and turned to

leave.

I threw my dignity as Underboss to the wind.

I lunged forward, my eyes bloodshot, and blocked his path.

“Doctor! I’m begging you, save my son!”

The old man stopped.

His sharp eyes swept over my face, his brow furrowed tightly.

“You’re… Dr. Stella’s husband?”

I was stunned for a moment, then a wave of elation washed over me.

“Yes! I’m Stella’s husband! Since you know my wife, for her sake, I’m begging you to save my son!”

The old man let out a soft, contemptuous laugh, his tone filled with undisguised scorn and anger.

“I do more than just know her. Stella noticed this child’s heart defect days ago. She personally invited me to your estate to treat him before it got worse.”

“But you and that woman drove me out! You accused Stella of cursing the child! And now you want me to clean up your mess?!”

Every word he spoke was like a bullet exploding next to my ear, blowing me to pieces.

I froze, my body turning to ice.

“Since you Lupo family people are so ignorant, treating a genuine warning like dirt, then I have no reason to meddle any further. It’s too late for a full recovery anyway. The boy will be sickly and weak for the rest

of his life.”

The old man shot me a cold look, picked up his medical bag, and walked out of the hospital with his assistant without a backward glance.

My legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the cold tile floor.

A wave of regret coiled in my gut like a snake, its fangs sinking deep.

Stella had never lied to me.

She had been trying to save my son. Even when we ganged up on her, misunderstood her, humiliated her, she was still doing her duty as a doctor.

I scrambled to my feet, wanting to chase after the old man, but my father rushed out of the emergency room and slapped me hard across the face.

“You blind fool! You killed your own heir for that crying woman!”

“I told you Stella had real skills to get to her position in the family! She warned you, but you wouldn’t

listen!”

“And now look! If the boy doesn’t make it tonight, you’re his murderer! And you’re the one who personally threw away the Lupo family’s real heirs!”

The Don’s roar tangled with the sharp cries of the dying child in the hospital room.

The whole corridor was a chaotic mess, suffocating me.

My hand trembled violently as I pulled out my phone, trying to call Stella, to beg her for help.

In the entire city, on the entire coast, she was the only one who could bring that old man back.

But all I got was that same, maddeningly final message.
