She Approved Our Marriage, She Approved Our Divorce Chapter 03

My eyes widened.

Even the furious crowd went silent.

Nathan looked down at me from the top of the steps, his gaze cutting through the sea of people.

“I have never had a sexual relationship with this woman. I don’t know why she chose to target me.

“Ms. Dawson, have I done something to offend you?”

“Nathan!”

I tried to push toward him, but the crowd packed tightly between us.

“Mr. Mercer, are you saying you have never slept with her?” someone called.

Nathan nodded.

“My legal team has been notified. We will pursue action against Ms. Dawson for defamation.”

With that, he gave me one cold glance, turned around, and went back inside.

“Nathan, wait!”

I struggled to my feet, but someone seized my arm.

The woman looked me up and down with disgust.

“So you’re the mistress.”

“Whose bastard were you carrying?”

“You came here to shake down Mr. Mercer and lied about Maya so we’d do your dirty work for you.”

A slap cracked across my face.

“Damn it! I came all this way, and this bitch played us!”

“You thought crying would make you right? You tried to wreck someone else’s relationship.”

“Don’t let her get away. Let’s teach her what happens to mistresses.”

“No! Let me go!” I yelled.

Someone yanked me down by my collar. Hands clawed at my coat and blouse without the slightest concern for my dignity.

“Tear it off! If she has no shame, let’s see how she likes being exposed.”

“That’s right. Maybe she’ll finally learn.”

“This is assault! Stop!”

I had only just left the hospital and barely had the strength to stand. Surrounded by dozens of people, I could do nothing but curl into myself and fight to keep my clothes together.

“Stop!”

Just as I was about to give out, Mercer Group security finally pushed through the crowd. They hauled me into the lobby while the people outside kept shouting for them to send me back.

Nathan sat behind his desk as I collapsed onto the floor in torn clothes.

“Apologize.”

I wrapped my arms around myself and looked up at him.

“For what?”

“To Maya and to me.”

I clenched my teeth. “Why should I?”

“You ended our baby’s life out of jealousy. Don’t you owe me an apology?”

His eyes burned with hatred.

“You used our child to threaten someone suffering from depression. Don’t you owe Maya one too?”

A laugh escaped me, and then the tears came.

“I told you, Nathan. I’m not as heartless as you and Maya.”

My voice rang through the lobby.

Maya rose and covered her mouth, feigning distress as she hurried toward the exit. But Nathan’s bodyguards stopped her.

Nathan walked over and tilted my chin upward.

“So you won’t apologize?”

“No.”

He nodded once, seized my arm, and dragged me to my feet.

“Nathan, what are you doing? Let me go!”

He said nothing as he pulled me toward the doors. The furious crowd outside was still roaring.

My body began to shake.

“Nathan, what are you doing?”

He tore away what remained of my coat, opened the doors, and shoved me outside.

I screamed as I fell.
