Seven Years As His Wife… Until My Own Son Called Me A Homewrecker Chapter 12

An hour later, Adrian received Vanessa’s new psychiatric evaluation.

No depression. No psychosis. No disorder at all.

She was perfectly healthy.

He tore the report in half, crushed the pages in his fist, and threw them away.

“Find out everything else she has hidden from me,” he ordered. “I want every lie, every detail.”

Then his anger faltered. “Any news about Mia?”

His assistant shook his head. “She may not have flown out. We checked every passenger list. We’re

reviewing ferry and bus records now.”

“Use every resource we have. Find her.”

The divorce could not end like this. Even if they truly separated, they had to sit across from each other once

and talk.

Adrian remained convinced that Mia’s years of love could not vanish. If he could see her, he could bring her

home.

For weeks, he searched. Private airport footage showed her waiting to board a flight, then answering a call

and leaving the line. Cameras followed her to a corner, where she disappeared.

Friends, investigators, and hired teams found nothing beyond that point. It was as if she had erased herself.

After another false lead, Adrian returned to the estate exhausted.

Noah ran to meet him. “Dad, did you find Mom?”

Adrian paused. “Who?”

“Mom.” Noah stared at the floor. His hands were muddy, his hair unwashed and hanging over his eyes.

Only then did Adrian notice how neglected he looked.

Vanessa had been confined to the estate since her deception came to light. Why had she not been taking

care of Noah?

“Where is Vanessa?” Adrian asked.

Noah began to tremble. When Adrian reached for him, he screamed and wet himself.

Adrian pulled up his sleeve. Long purple welts covered the boy’s arm.

“Who did this?”

Noah shook so hard his teeth chattered.

Adrian gentled his voice. “Tell me who hurt you.”

“It’s…Mommy Vanessa,” he whispered.

The answer hit Adrian like a blow. Rosalie, the woman who had always sworn she loved Ethan as her own

son, was the one who had done this to him

“She says I’m too loud. Every time I make noise, she hits me with a cane until I stop.”

Tears ran silently down his face. “Why won’t Mom come home? I miss her. I want the chicken she makes.”

Adrian closed his eyes and forced himself to breathe.

“She’ll be back soon,” he promised. “Just wait a little longer.”

After Noah fell asleep, Adrian went to the primary bedroom. The moment he opened the door, a glass flew at

his head.

“Noah, I told you to shut up!” Vanessa spun around and went pale when she saw Adrian.

“Why…why are you home?”

“If I stayed away any longer, you might forget whose house this is.”

He looked at the guards. “Take Ms. Hale to the basement at the Blackwood family manor.”

Vanessa’s eyes widened. “No!”

The old manor’s basement had once been used to punish people who betrayed the family. It had stood

untouched for almost thirty years, ever since the Blackwoods dragged their business into the light.

Now Adrian smiled without warmth. “You enjoy punishing people so much, Vanessa. It’s only fair that you

learn what it feels like.”

The guards dragged her away, kicking and screaming.

Adrian stood outside the bedroom for a long time before speaking again.

“Put this room back the way it was.”

One guard hesitated. “The way it was when?”

“When Mia lived here.”

He looked into the room as if she might already be standing inside it.

“When she comes home, everything will be exactly as she remembers.”
