Seven Years As His Wife… Until My Own Son Called Me A Homewrecker Chapter 07

Adrian looked at me without a trace of warmth.

My stomach dropped, but I shook my head.

“No. I won’t.”

The refusal left my lips immediately.

Adrian’s gaze turned dangerous. “You don’t make the rules here.”

At his signal, two guards forced me to the floor. My knees struck the tile, and pain shot through my body.

He watched without emotion. “You clearly won’t admit what you did until I teach you a lesson, Mia.. Keep her

on her knees. She doesn’t get up until she admits she was wrong.”

One of the guards wrenched my arms behind my back and held me on my knees.

Vanessa nudged Noah toward the door..

He opened it and shouted into the hallway, “Come look! The homewrecker is on her knees! She ruined

Mommy Vanessa’s family, and now she has to admit it!”

The empty corridor quickly filled with patients, visitors, and staff. Phones rose one after another as people

recognized me from the videos.

“That’s the woman from the trending posts.”

“She slept around and broke up someone else’s family.”

“Those videos are everywhere. She has no shame.”

I turned my face away from the cameras, but one of the guards grabbed my jaw and slapped me hard across

the face.

One blow followed another until I lost count.

My ears rang, my cheeks burned, and blood from my split lip dripped onto the floor.

Eventually, everything went black.

A bucket of ice water shocked me awake.

Adrian was still standing there.

“Are you ready to admit you were wrong?”

I knew his stubbornness. If I refused, he would not let me leave.

I could not beat him.

So I closed my eyes. “I’m sorry, Ms. Hale. It was all my fault. I came between you and Adrian. I ruined your

family.”

Noah ran circles around me, cheering. “She admitted it! The homewrecker finally admitted it!”

Strangers pushed their cameras closer to capture every trace of blood and shame.

Vanessa smiled in satisfaction. “Now that’s more like it.”

Adrian never looked at me. He wrapped an arm around Vanessa and led her through the crowd.

I collapsed again beneath the lights of dozens of phones.

When I woke, my phone was vibrating beside the hospital bed. Two messages waited for me.

The first was from my attorney.

[Ms. Bennett, the judge has signed your final divorce decree. You can pick up a certified copy from the court clerk’s office when you have time.]

The second was from Adrian.

[Be at the county court tomorrow at three.]

[If you insist on playing this game, let’s see if you’ll actually go through with the divorce.]

[It’ll put Vanessa’s mind at ease anyway.]

[Once you come to your senses and agree to accept her, we can always get married again.]

I laughed softly. Adrian had no idea the divorce was already final.

He still thought this was a tantrum and that the threat of losing him would send me crawling back.

I switched off my phone and took a cab to the court. After collecting the divorce decree, I used my delivery earnings to buy the first ticket out of Norland.

I had no idea where I was going, so I chose a destination at random

Anywhere was better than staying beside Adrian.
