Separated Rooms for Three Years, He Panicked After I Moved Out Chapter 10

“Let’s go to the courthouse,” I said.

He nodded and went upstairs to change.

Five minutes later, he came back down.

He wore a charcoal-gray coat and black trousers. He looked clean, composed.

He picked up his car keys from the entryway console and glanced at me.

“Let’s go.”

The drive to the courthouse was silent.

He drove with a steady hand, both of them on the wheel, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. He said nothing.

I sat in the passenger seat, watching the city slide past my window.

When we passed a bakery, I suddenly remembered it was the one Chloe loved. The one Briar used to drive across town for, just to buy her a slice of cake.

“Is there anything you wanted to do in these three years but never got the chance?” he asked suddenly.

I froze for a moment, surprised by the question.

“Yes.”

“What?”

“I want to see the northern lights.”

“I’ve always wanted to go, but I thought it wouldn’t be much fun to go alone.”

He was quiet for a long moment.

“You can go with friends someday.”

“Mm.”
