Separated Rooms for Three Years, He Panicked After I Moved Out Chapter 06

The living room fell silent.

Chloe sat on the sofa, her fingers wrapped around her coffee cup, her eyes fixed on Briar.

Briar looked at me. His expression barely flickered.

He wasn’t angry. He didn’t even seem surprised.

After a few seconds, he reached out and took the envelope.

“When did you draw these up?”

“Last week.”

He opened the envelope and read through the documents, from beginning to end.

When he reached the section on the division of assets, his frown deepened.

“You don’t want anything?”

“No.”

“Not even the house?”

“It’s your pre-marital property. It has nothing to do with me.”

He looked up, and for the first time, there was something in his eyes I couldn’t read.

“Marceline, are you doing this out of spite?”

I almost laughed.

Spite required an emotional investment I no longer had.

“No.”

“I’m being serious. We got married because our families needed it. Now everything’s resolved. There’s no reason for this marriage to continue.”

Briar stared at me, silent for a long time.
