Sacrificed by the Man Fated to Love Me Chapter 09

Sacrificed by the Man Fated to Love Me Chapter 09

“There was so much you could’ve done. But instead, you chose to let me suffer in her place,” I said to Terrence.

After a pause, I asked him, “Do you actually love me, Terrence?”

He was extremely intelligent. If he had truly wanted to alter a key part of the storyline, he should’ve been able to handle it properly. And yet, he still chose to put me in harm’s way. To make matters worse, he had never even considered whether I would survive the entire ordeal.

His feelings for me had changed a long time ago. He simply refused to admit it.

“You’re right-I am soft-hearted. However, I only act that way toward the version of you that loves me, not the one who put me in harm’s way,” I said firmly.

I paused and met his gaze. Then, I declared, “I don’t love you anymore, Terrence Sawyer.”

The love that I had for him had become nothing but endless pain and disappointment. I thought that I could move on. But now, I realize that I was still hurt by what had happened.

“I was wrong. I’m sorry…” Terrence cried in a pained voice. He had slumped to the ground, clutching his head.

I let out a sigh before walking toward him. Then, I kneeled down and said softly, “If you genuinely feel like you’ve made a mistake, turn yourself in. That way, I can finally rest in peace. What you’re doing now won’t help my situation at all.”

He lifted his head and stared at me with a dazed expression. His eyes were brimming with pain and longing.

“Okay I’ll do as you say,” he replied at last. “Give me some time, Quinn. I’ll sort everything out and join you soon.”

Terrence got to his feet and opened the door. His eyes were teary, but he kept his eyes on me as he slowly made his way toward the police outside.

My figure, on the other hand, was gradually fading away. Soon, it disappeared completely from the blood-soaked

room.

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself back in the room I had first woken up in.

“You did it, Quinn! You did it!”

John and the others were cheering as if I were a hero.

Grinning, John walked over to me and asked, “So, who would you like to live your second life as?”

After recovering from my initial surprise, I instinctively asked, “Am I not allowed to be Quinn Sawyer anymore?”

John shook his head regretfully. “I’m afraid not. You’ve already died, so it’ll go against the rules. However, you can be revived under a new identity, and you won’t have to start your new life from infancy.”

I fell silent and became overwhelmed by an indescribable sense of grief.

I flipped through a list of identities that John had handed me. The list was extensive. Among the options I was provided with, I could be reborn as a rich heiress, an A-list celebrity, or a successful businesswoman.

In the end, I chose to be a student of a police academy.

Even with a new name and a new life, I still wanted to return to the work I loved. I wanted to protect those who needed help, just as I had in my previous life.

I looked up at John and asked, “What’s going to happen to Terrence?”

The smile on his face slowly faded. After a long pause, he said quietly, “Terrence has confessed to the crimes he committed against you in this alternate world. In the end, he agreed to an execution by firing squad.”

He continued, “Logically speaking, his soul should’ve returned to our world after his death. However, he was punished by the Narrative, and his soul had been completely erased.”

I froze.

Terrence was dead?

When he said he would join me soon, I simply assumed that he would eventually return to my world. I didn’t expect him to choose to be executed.

I sat in my chair in silence. I felt strangely empty. I couldn’t tell if I was relieved or saddened by Terrence’s death.

“Have you made your decision?” John asked gently. “It’s time to go.”

I nodded. Then, I took a deep breath and prepared myself for my brand new life.

Life at the police academy was intense yet fulfilling at the same time. I quickly adapted to my new identity as Nancy Greene. I threw myself into my studies and trained diligently. I was determined to become an outstanding police officer.
