Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 13

I heard that in that moment, Landon’s face turned as dark as a storm, his eyes brewing a fury that could swallow  everything. 

“Bring Ava Monroe back to me!” he roared into the office intercom. 

His long fingers clenched into a fist, the joints cracking audibly. He was furious to the extreme. 

Assistant Alex immediately sent people to stop Ava.  

She had been lingering by the fountain outside the office building. When she saw the bodyguards approaching with purpose, a flicker of satisfaction crossed her eyes-she thought Landon had sent them to bring her back. 

Alex had never thought highly of Ava. He had never understood why Mr. Blackwood had taken a liking to someone like her, and now he felt nothing but disdain. In his eyes, Mrs. Vance had been better than this woman in every possible way-yet Landon had failed to appreciate her. 

Maybe that was just how it worked. Once something was yours, you grew tired of it. 

Ava’s lips curved upward slightly when she saw the bodyguards, though she still forced a few tears onto her face. 

“Did Landon send you to bring me back? I don’t want to go. Tell him I don’t want to be his hidden mistress anymore.” 

She huffed softly, pouted, and made a show of turning away. 

But the bodyguards blocked her path without expression. 

“Miss Monroe, Mr. Blackwood wants to see you. You can’t leave.” 

With firm, unyielding force, they escorted her back to the top-floor office. 

Ava felt something was off. A faint unease crept into her chest, though she couldn’t pinpoint why. 

The office door slammed shut behind her with a loud bang-and locked. 

Landon walked up to her and tossed a tablet at her feet. 

On the screen, surveillance footage played in a loop-how she had staged her own burn, how she had set me up. 

He grabbed her by the throat, his voice sharp with fury. 

“Where did you get the nerve to frame Eleanor like this? Did I give you too much leeway before?!”  

Ava’s face flushed red instantly. She clawed at his hand, her voice breaking into fragments. 

The air in her lungs thinned. Darkness crept into her vision. 

Just as she was about to suffocate, Landon finally let go. 

He shoved her to the ground in disgust, his eyes filled with raging anger and hatred. 

Gasping for air, Ava clutched at her throat, tears streaming uncontrollably. But this time, they failed to earn even a trace of sympathy from him. 

She didn’t know how much he had discovered. 

Still, she instinctively slipped back into her pitiful act. 

Crawling toward him, she clutched at the leg of his suit, her eyes red, her thin body trembling as if on the verge of 

collapse. 

“Mr. Blackwood… I didn’t do anything… it’s all a misunderstanding. I can explain…” 

“Did Eleanor get jealous 

gain? I’ll apologize to her, okay? Please don’t treat me like this… I’m scared…” 

Landon looked down at her coldly, a bitter laugh rising in his chest. 

Had he really been played so thoroughly by a woman like this? 

Ridiculous. 

Expressionless, he kicked her away. 

“Get lost. Don’t touch me. You disgust me.” 

“Alex! However Ava Monroe framed Eleanor before, I want her to pay it back tenfold.” 

“For now-slap her.” 

Landon’s merciless words shattered Ava completely. 

She collapsed onto the floor, her mind spinning with one realization- 

He knew everything.  

And he was going to take revenge for Eleanor. 

Despair filled her eyes. Her thoughts raced, searching desperately for a way out. 

As Alex stepped closer, she scrambled backward, shaking her head frantically. 

“No… you can’t do this to me…”  

“I didn’t do anything wrong! It’s not my fault! Landon, didn’t you love me? You didn’t even like Eleanor anymore-I helped 

you get rid of her. Isn’t that a good thing?” 

She shouted, panicked and desperate.
