Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 11

Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 11

I heard that Landon forced himself to stay calm, steadying his voice.

“Eleanor, stop making a scene. If you come back now, I promise I’ll spend more time with you.”

“Didn’t I already tell you? Ava is just for fun. I’m already getting tired of her. You’re the one I truly love. You’re irreplaceable.

Just give me a little more time-I’ll come back to the family completely.”

“If you keep this up, it won’t be interesting anymore. Aren’t you afraid I might actually divorce you?”

No matter how many words he said, the only thing he got in return was silence.

Every room in the apartment was empty. There was no trace of me anywhere. Even many of my personal belongings were

Jone

1 had really left.

When that realization finally hit him, Landon’s lips pressed into a thin line. The air around him turned cold, heavy with

:ension.

It wasn’t just my things that were gone.

Even the proof that we had once loved each other-every shared memory-had disappeared.

He drove straight to our estate in Long Island and rushed into the backyard.

What used to be a bare patch of land had once become a grove of oak trees he planted for me with his own hands. Now, it

was nothing but devastation.

Every tree was gone.

All that remained were ugly stumps.

Only then did Landon truly panic.

No matter how much he had upset me in the past, I had never gone this far. A little coaxing had always been enough to

make me forgive him.

But now, the oak trees-symbols of six years of memories, planted by his own hands-had all been cut down by mine.

He reached out in disbelief, touching the rough surface of a stump. The cross-section had already dried slightly.

They hadn’t been cut recently.

At some unknown point, I had already arranged for them all to be destroyed.

And he hadn’t noticed a thing.

In that moment, Landon’s heart sank completely, plunging into a dark abyss.

His hands trembled as he dialed my number again.

As expected, it was still disconnected.

“Eleanor, where the hell did you go?!”

He sent his first message in days.

But the moment he opened my profile, the words “You’re blocked” appeared on the screen, glaring and merciless.

He had never imagined that one day, I would cut him off so completely.

A sense of dread crept into his chest.

He quickly dialed my parents’ number in Connecticut.

“The number you have dialed is not in service…”

The same mechanical voice repeated over and over, as if mocking him.

My entire family had disappeared, determined to sever all ties with him.

But he wouldn’t allow it.

He hadn’t signed the divorce papers. Even if we ran to the ends of the earth, he would drag us back.

Landon’s face darkened as he called his assistant, Alex.

“Use every resource we have. Find Eleanor and her family as fast as possible! Track everywhere they’ve been since the medical incident-everyone they’ve met. I want everything!”

“Eleanor doesn’t get to leave me. Not a chance.”

Woken in the middle of the night, Alex suppressed his exhaustion and replied, “Yes, sir. I’ll handle it immediately.”

Even after hanging up, Landon couldn’t calm down.

He returned to the empty apartment, a loneliness unlike anything he had ever felt creeping in.

Lying on the large bed in their bedroom, with no sign of me beside him, he found it strangely unbearable.

Even though nearly every trace of me had been erased, he still felt like I was everywhere.

Looking at the vanity, he could almost see me sitting there, carefully doing my makeup.

The breeze lifted the curtains on the balcony, and he remembered how I used to be afraid at night, convinced the moving curtains looked like ghosts. I would make him get out of bed to close them, then cling to him tightly, burying my face in his

chest before I could fall asleep.

Those warm, gentle moments…

They were gone forever.

Somewhere along the way, everything between us had turned into suspicion and arguments.

Even when we lay in the same bed, there had been distance between us. I would press myself to the very edge, unwilling

to touch him at all.

We had once loved each other so deeply.

How had we ended up like this?
