Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 10

Revenge of the Missing Wife Chapter 10

I heard that Landon lowered his eyes and fell into thought.

Ava’s words seemed to make sense. Maybe things were exactly as she said-Eleanor was waiting for him to rush back in panic.

He frowned, irritation and impatience building inside him.

“How long is she going to keep this up? Does she really think playing hard to get is interesting? It’s not. Not like you, Ava.

You’re sweet and obedient. I’ll ignore her for now. Let’s see how long she can hold out.”

Suppressing the unease and rising anger in his chest, Landon pulled Ava back into his arms.

She wore a revealing silk nightgown, yet her expression still carried a touch of innocence and shyness, making her even more alluring. Her slender arms wrapped around his shoulders, her red lips brushing against his as she tried to deepen the kiss.

But Landon was distracted.

He kissed her absentmindedly, then pushed her away.

He grabbed his coat, straightened his tie in the mirror, and said coldly, “Something urgent came up at the office. I’m

leaving. Get some rest.”

Without another glance at her, he walked out and drove off.

Ava slammed a pillow against the couch in frustration. “Damn you, Eleanor. You really know how to play this game. I’m not

letting him go to you!”

Landon did go to the office. He didn’t return to the apartment they once shared.

For two straight days, he buried himself in work at the Blackwood Group headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, handling

documents at a relentless pace.

But his eyes kept drifting to his phone.

It rang. Ava.

He hung up.

She called again. And again.

The screen lit up countless times.

None of them were from me.

Monday came.

Still, no message. No call.

The unease inside Landon grew stronger. The suppressed anger burned hotter, ready to explode at any moment.

At that moment, his assistant, Alex, knocked and stepped in. “Mr. Blackwood, someone is here to see you. It’s-”

Before Alex could finish, Landon cut him off sharply.

“Is it Eleanor? Let her wait outside. After ignoring me for this long, she can afford to wait.”

Alex looked uncomfortable, pressing his lips together before speaking carefully.

“Sir… it’s not your wife. It’s the investment representative scheduled for today.”

Landon froze.

For a long moment, he didn’t react.

“How could it not be Eleanor? Let her in. Postpone whatever meeting that is.”

He rubbed his temples impatiently.

Alex hesitated. “Sir, she really isn’t here. If you don’t believe me, you can check the reception room yourself.”

That sentence shattered the illusion.

Landon walked to the reception room, his expression dark. When he saw the business partner waiting, the coldness

around him intensified.

All the way until the end of the workday, he didn’t receive a single call or message from me.

His face grew darker by the hour. The employees in the office were so intimidated they barely dared to breathe, wishing they could disappear into the walls.

Finally, Landon ran out of patience.

He drove home at full speed.

Night had already fallen. The city lights of New York glittered in the distance. But the penthouse on Park Avenue stood completely dark.

For a moment, he thought he was seeing things.

He checked the address again, only to realize the apartment truly was empty. No lights. No sign of life.

The unease in his chest surged, his heart pounding uncontrollably.

“Eleanor, what kind of game are you playing? This trick won’t work on me!”

He pushed the door open, flipped on the lights, and searched the massive apartment.

It was silent.

Empty.

His footsteps echoed faintly through the space.

A thin layer of dust had settled on the coffee table. The flowers in the vase had long withered, leaving only brittle, yellowed

stems.

It was obvious.

No one had lived here for days.

A hollow panic rose in his chest. He pressed his lips together tightly, forcing himself to stay calm.

Impossible.

She couldn’t divorce him. He had power, influence. Even if she tried to run, she couldn’t escape his reach.
