Reborn: Revenge On My Wife & Her Fake Confidant Chapter 05 There Was Nothing Left to Save

Vanessa stayed silent

Behind her, Mason secretly nudged her.

At last, she spoke.

“Adrian, come back with me. If you do, I can pretend none of this ever happened.”

None of it?

She thought one casual sentence was enough to make me stop pursuing everything they had done?

It was absurd.

Vanessa studied me for several seconds.

“If you’re willing to come home, we can go back to the way things were.”

Her voice softened.

“You always wanted children, didn’t you? I’ll have them for you. A son and a daughter. How does that sound?”

“Enough!”

I cut her off loudly.

I had wanted children.

Every time I brought it up in the past, Vanessa had looked disgusted and brushed me aside.

Now she was offering children as a bargaining chip.

The thought only made me sick.

“Any child with your blood in them would disgust me.”

Vanessa’s anger ignited instantly.

“Filthy? Who exactly is filthy here? You sold yourself to Riley for money, and you’re calling me filthy?”

SLAP!

A palm cracked across Vanessa’s face.

“If you can’t use that mouth for anything but filth, maybe you should donate it!”

Riley shook out her stinging hand and snapped, “Nobody wants to listen to that garbage.”

Vanessa clutched her cheek and screamed, “You again!”

“Yeah, me. What about it?”

I pulled Riley behind me

“Why waste your breath talking to an animal?

Riley grinned.

“Good point.”

Vanessa’s face shifted from white to green with rage.

“You cheating bastards! Both of you!”

I gave her a cold look.

“You’re right. A shameless cheating couple is standing right in front of me.”

My eyes moved from Vanessa to Mason.

“You two.”

“I don’t need to spell out what happened between you and/Mason. Just talking about it makes me sick.”

I paused.

“And we’re already divorced. What I do now has nothing to do with you.”

Vanessa stared at me.

“Divorced?”

Then she laughed with absolute confidence.

“So you’re still jealous of Mason. That’s what this is about. You’re using divorce to make a scene again.”

She lifted her chin.

“You signed the agreement. So what? I never did. Without my signature, that paper means nothing.”

I sneered.

“You signed it a long time ago. The completed agreement was already delivered back to me.”

Her expression shifted.

I watched her carefully.

“Don’t tell me you’re regretting it now.”

Then I smiled.

“Doesn’t matter Regret won’t change anything.”

I took Riley with me, go into the car, and left the hospital.

Vanessa remained where she was, her expression ugly.

Then she turned a cold gaze on Mason.

“What happened?”

It was the first time she had spoken to him with that much distance.

Mason hurried to soothe her.

“I was only thinking about your reputation. Adrian is going to prison. You can’t afford to have any stain attached to your name.”

Vanessa was convinced almost immediately.

Then she said, “If Adrian refuses to keep his mouth shut, we’ll have to find a way to shut it for him.”

Riley drove me straight back to her place.

Once we had settled in, she finally asked, “What are you going to do about the bridge project?”

“I already had all construction stopped before anything could happen. Now I only need to submit the evidence and make sure Mason is charged.”

I thought for a moment.

“Stay out of this part. I’ll handle it. Vanessa is insane. I have no idea what she’ll try next. I’ve already learned that lesson once, so you should-”

Riley cut me off quickly.

“I can protect myself.”

I smiled.

At that exact moment, my phone rang.

Vanessa.

I answered.

“Adrian, I know what you’re planning.”

Her voice was cold.

“If you report this, every employee under you will be fired immediately. None of them will get a cent of the wages they’re owed.

“And your so-called best friend Riley? I know her boss very well. Getting her driven out of Ravenport

would he effortless.

“And the thing you care about most…”

A terrible feeling rose inside me.

Vanessa said, “Do you still want your father’s life?”

I shot to my feet.

My vision went red.

“Vanessa Shaw! If you touch one hair on my father’s head, I’ll make sure you spend the rest of your life behind bars!”
