Reborn: I Quit Fighting Aging to Ruin Her Chapter 09

Reborn: I Quit Fighting Aging to Ruin Her Chapter 09 At Thirty, Life Begins

After everything, I booked a beach getaway.

On my thirtieth birthday-warm salt breeze, sun on my skin-I leaned back in a lounge chair and hit “go live.”

No soft lights. No filters. No makeup.

Just my face.

By now, my skin had mostly settled back to match my real age. But thirty means fine lines at the corners of your eyes. Cheeks that aren’t as full. A few spots here and there.

Normal skin. Ordinary. Human.

Unlike my last life, the woman on screen had steady, peaceful eyes.

The stream title was simple:

At Thirty, Life Begins

No hype, no teasers. But the viewer count kept climbing.

People recognized me.

Sophie-the one Aria, the so-called “ageless goddess,” had nearly destroyed.

[Sophie? Is that really you? Are you okay?]

[Wait, no makeup? Those spots are so obvious…]

[The person above has clearly watched too many filtered streams. This is what normal skin looks like. I started getting wrinkles at 25. So what?]

I looked into the camera, calm and steady.

“I’m not here to complain. I’m not here for clout. This is my first stream-and probably my last.”

“I just want to talk. Especially to the women who’ve felt the way I used to.”

I let my fingers trace the fine lines at my eyes.

“Not long ago, I was more afraid of these than anything.”

“I threw money at luxury skincare, tried every procedure I could find, and nearly paid for it with my life.”

“I was terrified of aging. I’d been told that youth was everything. And I fell hard into that trap.”

I took a breath. Then I said the thing I’d kept buried.

“What I never told anyone-even before Aria used those curses on me–I was already obsessed with staying young. I was already losing myself to it.”

The stream went quiet. Fewer bullet comments scrolled by. Like people were holding their breath.

“I’ve been drained. I’ve seen the darkness behind ‘eternal youth.’ You all saw how Aria and Eliot ended up. So tell me—is aging really scarier than dying?”

“I’m not saying we shouldn’t care about how we look. I’m not saying wanting to be beautiful is wrong. Everyone has the right to pursue beauty. I just hope we all do it freely. Without fear.”

A yellow leaf drifted onto my table.

Dry at the edges, but its veins were still unique-like a fingerprint.

“Yeah, I’m thirty. So what?”

“I was beautiful at eighteen. I was beautiful at twenty-five. And I’m beautiful now. Maybe one day, when I’m old and toothless, I’ll still look in the mirror and grin-and say, ‘Damn, I look good.””

A tear slipped down my cheek.

The bullet comments paused for a moment-then flooded back like a warm tide.

[Tearing up… sincerity really hits different. Sophie, you said it perfectly.]

[I don’t hate my wrinkles anymore. They’re proof I’ve lived.]

[Aging with grace-that’s what we should chase.]

[Screw appearance pressure! Bare face? Makeup? Whatever I want-I’m the baddest.]

I looked at the screen, full of warmth and strength, and felt something settle in my chest.

In the mirror across the room, I saw myself.

Not the person I used to be.

The one who’d finally made peace with everything-and come out whole.

(The End)
