Reborn: I Quit Fighting Aging to Ruin Her Chapter 08 The Devil Always Collects.

When Aria showed up at his door again, Eliot froze-terrified, ready to slam it shut.

But before he could, she swung a baseball bat from behind her back and cracked it against his skull.

He dropped like a stone.

When he came to, his hands and feet were bound tight. And Aria was standing over him, her face blank.

“Aria… what are you doing?!”

Her overfilled face stretched into a crooked, sick grin. She reached up and touched her own cheek.

“Eliot, didn’t you love this face? It’s not pretty anymore. Doesn’t that hurt you?”

He was already trembling. He just nodded along. “Of course it does. I care about you most. Untie me first, okay? We can talk this through—”

She cut him off with a raspy laugh. “Talk? I don’t have time for that.”

“If you weren’t so useless-if you’d handled that bitch Sophie-neither of us would be here.”

“Blame her. She did this to you.”

She pulled out a small bottle. Her eyes gleamed with greed.

“I used twenty times the dose this time. One smear, and I’ll be young again.”

She lurched toward him like something out of a nightmare.

Eliot knew exactly what that stuff did. She’d used five times on Sophie-and that was supposed to age her to death in hours. Twenty times?

He tried to scramble away. But he couldn’t move.

She didn’t hesitate. She poured the bottle over his face.

At first, nothing.

Then he felt it-his insides twisting, shriveling, like they were being ground apart. His skin grayed and sagged. His hair fell out in clumps. His teeth loosened.

In seconds, he aged a lifetime.

He didn’t even get to scream a second time before he was gone-a withered, white-haired

corpse.

Aria didn’t flinch. She didn’t care.

All she felt was greedy excitement-she was about to get her face back.

She ran to the mirror.

Her face hadn’t changed. If anything, it was worse-sagging, yellowing, falling apart just like his.

Within minutes, she looked eighty.

“No! No! My face!”

She smashed everything she could grab-vases, bottles, the mirror itself. Anything that showed her reflection.

But the floor-to-ceiling window still threw back her image.

She grabbed a chair and swung it at the glass.

She tripped over Eliot’s body-stumbled-lost her footing-

And plunged out into the open air.

Her eyes stayed wide open even at the end. She never understood that when you push something too far, it flips back on you.

In this world, nothing free comes without a price-and the devil always collects
