Rebirth: My Sister Stole My Rapist Husband Chapter 05 The Dinner Invitation

Lila shot me a smug look before looping her arm sweetly through his. “Luke’s cooking is amazing. Shame you’re not lucky enough to taste it.”

They’d barely taken a few steps when Finn appeared at the end of the hallway.

He watched them go, then turned to me.

“Your family?”

I shook my head.

Finn let out a cold snort. “I thought they were some poor relatives of yours. Acting like a few leftovers are some grand prize.”

He stood there with a tight expression and held out an expensive-looking three-tier insulated lunch box, speaking stiffly. “Here. My chef made too much. Don’t let it go to waste.”

The second Lila spotted Finn, her face drained of color. She snapped her head toward me, her eyes swirling with disbelief and devastation.

Luke noticed something was off and murmured, “What’s wrong?”

She gritted her teeth. “Nothing. I just think some people get used and tossed aside, yet still act like they’re special. So pathetic.”

Then she tugged Luke away and left.

After that day, Finn started bringing me food every single day.

But as I ate, I couldn’t help but be confused. How was the Vanderbilt family chef’s cooking so… ordinary?

Once I recovered, I went back to school.

I thought Finn and I would finally be like two parallel lines, drifting apart and never crossing again.

But he ended up in the same class as me. Joined the same student union department. Even kept showing up at my part-time jobs, over and over.

Finally, I couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“Finn, why are you doing this? Did I do something wrong?”

His face darkened, as if my question had genuinely angered him.

“You think I’m here to get revenge?”

His voice cracked with frustration, and the words came out, almost like he’d stopped pretending.

“I’m pursuing you! Can’t you see that?”

I froze on the spot. Then I fled, panicked and flustered.

In my previous life, what had happened to Lila had been a thorn buried deep in my chest.

No matter what, I just couldn’t bring myself to get close to Finn again.

Maybe he noticed me pulling away. After that day, he really did stop appearing around me.

Half a year went by.

But I found myself unable to hold back. I started quietly asking about him.

My classmates stared at me in shock. “You don’t know? Finn’s already planning to study abroad.”

My heart stopped. The plane crash from my previous life crashed into my mind.

My pulse raced, and I pressed urgently, “When… when is he leaving?”

“Two weeks from now. December 10th.”

My mind went blank.

I grabbed my phone and called him immediately.

“Don’t go, Finn.”

On the other end, he let out a soft, bitter scoff.

“You’re telling me not to go? Who are you to tell me what to do?”

My voice caught. But before I could explain, he cut me off.

“Fine. I’ll give you one chance. December 9th. Have dinner with me, and you can try to convince me in person. If it makes sense, I’ll stay. If not, I leave that night.”

I agreed at once.

On the night of the 9th, I went to the address he’d sent me.

The staff told me a private room was already reserved and that I could head straight in.

I hurried through the door-only to be slammed against the wall.

Luke stood there in a designer suit, his arm around a red-eyed Lila, staring at me with pure hatred.

“Clara. I told you the second I got my hands on you, you’d pay tenfold for what you did to me. You stole Lila’s innocence, and now she’s lost our baby. So I’m going to take yours. Get you pregnant. And then make sure you lose that child too!”

He waved a hand. “Come on, boys. Take good care of her.”

I struggled desperately, sobbing. “I didn’t! Luke, I never did any of those things!”

Luke only looked at me with utter disgust.

Just then, Finn called.

Lila snatched the phone and purred, “She has a boyfriend now. She’s sick of you. Stop bothering her!”

“What? You don’t believe me?”

She laughed, snapped a few photos of me pinned down by the thugs, and sent them over.

“Take a look. See how cozy Clara is with her boyfriend.”

She glanced down at her phone, grinning in satisfaction.
