Publicly Rejecting My Three Alphas to Choose the Real Alpha King Chapter 03

Publicly Rejecting My Three Alphas to Choose the Real Alpha King Chapter 03 The Pull of Fate
Lyra’s POV

The moment I stepped out of the Wolf Keep’s gates, I finally breathed in true freedom at last.

No perpetual Alpha dominance loomed over me. No suffocating chains bound me. The wind felt unfamiliar, yet it brought me a peace I had never known.

Now free from the three Alphas’ crushing hold, the tension coiled inside me finally snapped. I felt completely worn out, every last bit of energy spent. The bravery that had sustained me through the standoff was nothing but armor I’d forged through sheer grit. Once it fell away, only exhaustion and confusion remained.

I knew exactly what I had done. By defying three dangerous Alphas in public and challenging the pack’s age-old rules, I had become a traitor and an outcast.

From now on, I would be hunted and shunned for the rest of my life. Wandering would be my new normal.

I had nothing left.

My only anchor was the stranger walking beside me.

He stayed silent, letting me hold onto his firm arm. His warmth seeped through his clothes, steady as bedrock. He slowed his pace to match mine, wordlessly accepting every bit of my weakness and dishevelment.

“You scared?” His deep, smooth voice broke the night air—soft and husky. No accusation lingered in his voice, only pure, gentle inquiry.

“I am scared, but not half as scared as going back. Wandering free beats wasting away trapped in that cage for the rest of my days.”

“You are brave,” he said with a soft sigh. “But also reckless. You didn’t only sever a mate bond—you broke the pack’s entire age-old hierarchy. You’ve gone up against the pack’s upper echelons.”

“I know.” I looked down at our linked arms, my heart steady. ” I’d never take it back. I endured three years of suppression and torment solely for this moment—to finally live for myself.”

He was quiet for a moment. When he spoke again, his eyes held the weight of ages. ” I know you’ve got plenty of questions. But I’ll say this first: This was no happy accident—every move was planned well in advance.”

My heart jolted. Fragments of the past clicked into perfect order. Every time the three Alphas cast me aside or punished me, every endless night I endured alone, a quiet warmth had always lingered in the darkness, watching over me. It had been him. Day after day, for three years, he had been there.

“Why me?” I asked softly.

He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he led me along hidden forest paths, expertly avoiding every trace of the trackers sent to hunt us down. He knew the castle’s defenses too well to be some ordinary low-ranking wolf.

“Let’s get somewhere safe first,” he said gently. ” Their hunters will close in on us any minute now.”

I pushed my questions aside and followed him without hesitation. Even though I knew nothing about him, a strange certainty settled in my chest—he would never hurt me.

It was irrational, yet my certainty never wavered.

The night grew darker. Deep in the forest, a small wooden cottage stood wrapped in vines and greenery. Hidden and isolated, it was perfectly concealed from the outside world.

“This is my home,” he said. “You’ll be safe here for now.”

He pushed open the wooden door. The inside was simple but clean. Warm candlelight flickered to life, chasing away the night’s chill and the confusion clouding my mind.

Standing in the golden glow, I finally gathered my courage. “May I ask your name?”

“Kane.”

A single name, untethered to any family or clan lineage.

“Thank you. I never would’ve gotten out of the Wolf Keep without you. You’re the one who gave me the courage to stand against everyone.”

Was I being too forward? I could feel my cheeks turning red.

Kane’s warm gaze locked onto mine. “Bravery has always lived within you I just blocked the blows that would’ve broken you.”

The cottage felt peaceful and warm, a world apart from the danger and tension lurking outside. I thought back to that kiss at the banquet, and my cheeks grew hotter.

I decided to be honest.

” That kiss wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment choice. I meant every bit of it. I left them behind and chose you. This isn’t an act—it’s what my heart truly wants.”

A flicker of emotion crossed Kane’s eyes. His voice turned serious. “Lyra, choosing me means going against the whole pack. Tough times lie ahead. You can still back out if you want to.”

“I won’t back down.”

The moment the words left my mouth, I felt something stir deep within my blood—something strange and unfamiliar.

I didn’t understand it then. But I would come to know it as an innate, destined pull forged by perfect blood harmony.

A bond that belonged only to Kane and me.

A destiny that no one could ever tear apart.
