Pick A Number, He Said, I Picked Divorce Chapter 13

Pick A Number, He Said, I Picked Divorce Chapter 13

A few months later, Fiona was convicted on charges including intentional assault and other crimes, and she was sentenced.

As for me, I had settled down in this small coastal city. At the same time, I had opened a flower shop nearby.

That evening, I was just about to close up when the doorbell rang.

“Welcome.”

“Serena.”

I looked up. It was Silas.

He walked quickly toward me, his eyes completely bloodshot.

“I’ve been searching for you for a long time. Fiona’s already been sentenced.”

“You used to love me so much—and now I know I was wrong, too. Can you give me one more chance?”

I let out a scoff and laughed.

“Silas. I’ve already told you. It’s over between us.”

Silas opened his mouth, still wanting to say something more.

Just then, a gentle voice cut in.

“Sorry I’m late. Traffic was a bit backed up.”

It was Ethan Coleman. He was someone I’d met a few months ago, shortly after coming back. He was also the one who had suggested I open a flower shop. He had a gentle nature and was a man of few words. Yet somehow, whenever I was struggling, he always seemed to know exactly when to hand me a cup of hot water.

I looked at him and smiled.

“No, I just finished up, too.”

Ethan glanced at Silas, then asked me in a low voice, “Who is this?”

I looped my arm through Ethan’s and said flatly, “Someone asking for directions. Let’s go.”

“Okay.”

With that, I locked the door and left with Ethan.

Silas stood where he was. He didn’t chase after us.

And I didn’t look back.

Some people belong in the past.

And as for me—I had a new life to live.
