Pick A Number, He Said, I Picked Divorce Chapter 12

Pick A Number, He Said, I Picked Divorce Chapter 12

When Silas arrived home, Fiona immediately rose from the sofa and rushed to greet him.

“Silas—”

Before she could finish, a thick stack of documents came flying straight at her face. Paper scattered everywhere across the floor.

Fiona flinched from the impact, completely stunned.

Silas’s eyes were bloodshot. His voice was raw and hoarse.

“Fiona.”

“Why did you do all of this?”

Fiona looked down at the documents scattered on the floor. Her face drained to a deathly white in an instant.

She knew. It was all over.

“Silas, let me explain—”

“I did it all for your own good.”

Silas let out a cold laugh.

“For me?”

“You gave those pastries to Serena—was that for me?”

“You tampered with the blind boxes. You got all those people to cyberbully Serena. Was all of that for me, too?”

With that, he pulled out his phone.

“Fiona. You can tell the police everything you’ve done yourself.”

The moment Fiona heard those words, she scrambled over on all fours and threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his leg in a death grip, sobbing so pitifully her face was a mess of tears.

“Don’t call the police!”

“Silas, please—I’m begging you, let me go just this once.”

“I know I was wrong. I’ll never dare to do it again. I’ll leave right now. I’ll go far away from you. Just don’t call the police…”

Silas kicked her off with one foot, speaking through gritted teeth.

“Let you walk?”

“You killed my child. You destroyed my marriage.”

“What makes you think I would ever let you walk?”

Fiona collapsed onto the floor. The fear in her eyes shifted, bit by bit, into something else entirely.

Since she could no longer keep up the act, she simply stopped trying.

Suddenly, she burst into hysterical laughter, laughing so hard that tears streamed down her face.

“Yes—I admit it. I did all of this.”

“But the one who made every final decision—that was you. Not me.”

“She came to you for money, and you refused to give it.”

“When she was being attacked online, you were the one shielding me.”

“Her mother’s ashes being thrown into the sewer—you were the one who made that phone call with your own hands.”

“If you hadn’t nodded your head, none of this would have ever happened.”

“Silas. The person who truly drove Serena away—it wasn’t just me. It was you, too.”

Silas’s pupils contracted violently. His entire body swayed.

He wanted to refute her. But he couldn’t force out a single word.

Because everything she had said was the absolute truth.

Just then, the door was knocked.

Silas walked over and pulled it open.

Two police officers stepped inside and showed their badges.

“Who called the police?”

Silas’s eyes were vacant. His voice was hoarse.

“I did.”

He raised his hand and pointed at Fiona.

“She fed someone improper food, which caused that person to miscarry.”

“All the relevant evidence is right here.”

With that, he picked up the scattered documents from the floor and handed them over.

The officers took the materials, briefly verified them, then walked over to Fiona.

“Ms. Fiona, please cooperate and come with us for questioning.”

Fiona was led out by the police.

Silas stood where he was, motionless, for a long, long time.
