Oops! Keep the Fiancé… I’m Taking the Fake Heiress Chapter 02

Martin caught a glimpse of it.

He blinked, then burst out scoffing.

“People from small towns really don’t know when to stop pretending.”

“Using a fake card from some bargain website, and you still have the nerve to act rich?”

He pointed at my wrist, his face full of contempt.

“And that cheap bracelet. What did it cost, ten bucks with free shipping?”

“Absolutely pathetic. You can’t hide the desperation no matter how hard you try.”

I looked at the clueless expression of someone who had clearly never seen real wealth and rolled my eyes so hard I nearly saw my own brain.

The next morning, I opened my door to find a large basket of muddy vegetables slammed down at my feet.

Martin stood in the hallway with his arms crossed, blocking my way like a disease.

“Now that you’re awake, don’t just stand there. Get to work in the kitchen.”

He looked down at me, his face full of condescension.

“Every young woman in this family is expected to know how to manage a household.”

“Breakfast for the entire family, our overnight guests, and the household staff is your responsibility today.”

He let out a cold laugh, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

“You grew up without servants, so you’re used to this kind of rough, menial work.”

“This shouldn’t be too difficult for you, should it?”

“If the food isn’t acceptable, don’t expect anyone to save you a single bite.”

I stared at the mud splattered across the floor.

My fists clenched instantly.

Did they really think I was their unpaid help?

I took a deep breath and rolled up the sleeves of my pajamas.

If I didn’t dump this basket over his head today, I wasn’t a Shaw.

I was just about to kick him when hurried footsteps came from the other end of the hall.

Vera hadn’t even changed out of her clothes.

She ran over in thin pajamas and slippers, snatched the basket off the ground, and threw it aside.

“Martin, that’s too much!”

Vera stepped in front of me, her face cold.

“Tessa just got here. What right do you have to humiliate her like this?”

She grabbed my hand, her voice firm.

“Come on. I’ll go with you.”

Martin went ballistic when he saw Vera protecting me.

He jabbed a finger at her nose and roared.

“Vera, are you insane?”

“Whose side are you on? What did she say to turn you against us?”

“I’m teaching her the rules. Stop acting like some kind of saint!”

Seeing his twisted face, the fire in my chest could no longer be contained.

He dared to yell at my precious sister.

I shoved Vera aside and charged straight at him.

“Who do you think you are, yelling at the sister I waited eighteen years to meet?”

I grabbed Martin by the collar and kicked him square in the shin.

“Ow!”

Martin let out a miserable scream, clutching his leg and dropping to one knee.

“Keep talking like that and see what happens.”

I climbed onto his back and rained down punches.

The hallway dissolved into chaos.

“What the hell is going on here?”

A furious roar came from the top of the stairs.

Mr. Grant stood there with his briefcase, his expression thunderous.

He watched me pin Martin to the floor and grind his face into the carpet.

Then he saw Vera, disheveled and shielding me.

His face darkened.

“You’ve been here five minutes, and you’re already tearing this family apart?”

Mr. Grant stormed over and pointed a finger in my face.

“You have no respect for anyone. You turn your own siblings against each other, then put your hands on your brother?”

He was shaking with fury.

“Get to the study!”

You’re not coming out until you’ve written out the Grant family rules a hundred times.”

I looked coldly at this so-called father.

Hearing him take sides without asking a single question made one thing crystal clear.

My sister must have had a miserable life here.

The thought of my gentle sister being mistreated made the fury inside me impossible to suppress.

I shot to my feet, ready to go head-to-head with Mr. Grant.

“Are you blind? He started it.”
