Oops! Keep the Fiancé… I’m Taking the Fake Heiress Chapter 01

Ever since I could talk, I’d been obsessed with having an older sister.

Every morning, the first thing I’d do was kick my legs and yell, “Mom, I don’t want another stinky brother. Give me a sister!”

Even when my eight brothers tried to bribe me with candy one by one, I just clung to Mom and kept begging for a sister.

So when the Grant family’s attorney arrived with DNA results proving I was the biological daughter who had been switched at birth, my mom practically shoved me into a waiting town car.

“Go! Your sister’s waiting for you!”

The moment I walked into the Grant family, my biological brother gave me a look of pure disdain.

“I only recognize Vera as my sister!”

The man our families had arranged for me to marry since childhood frowned too.

“Know your place. Vera is the only woman I’ll ever marry.”

But my eyes were locked on the heiress who had grown up in my place.

God, I knew it.

She was my sister all along, exactly as fate intended.

I drove an elbow between the two men, shoved them aside, and lunged forward, wrapping my arms tightly around her waist.

“Yes! I knew I was meant to have a sister!”

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

My biological brother, Martin, went red in the face.

He and my supposed fiancé, Ethan, rushed forward at the same time, grabbing my arms from both sides and trying to drag me away.

“Where did this uncivilized brat come from?”

Ethan’s face was full of disgust as he tried to yank me off Vera.

“You’ve been here five seconds, and you’re already attacking Vera. Do you have no manners at all?”

I was still basking in the joy of finally finding my perfect sister.

Being interrupted by these two clueless idiots made my blood boil.

I braced my core and swung my elbow back hard.

A dull thud echoed through the foyer.

Martin staggered back three steps, clutching his chest, the wind knocked out of him.

I shoved Ethan away so hard he nearly went flying.

I kept my arms wrapped tightly around Vera’s slender waist.

Tilting my head, I shot back without an ounce of politeness.

“She’s my sister. I can hug her whenever I want. Why the hell do either of you care?”

They both stood there speechless, their faces dark with fury.

Vera was clearly startled by my boldness.

She froze for a second, her body going slightly stiff.

But when she saw me wobble from overexertion, she didn’t push me away.

Instead, she instinctively reached out with both hands and steadied me firmly by the shoulders.

Martin finally caught his breath, his face purple with rage.

He jabbed a finger at my nose and let loose.

“You ill-mannered little hick. Just you wait!”

“I’m going to teach you exactly what the Grant family’s rules mean!”

It was hilarious.

How was he so sure the long-lost daughter had grown up poor and backward?

Before I could answer, a gentle but firm voice came from above me.

“Martin, that’s enough.”

Vera pulled me closer into her arms, frowning slightly.

“She’s your own sister. How can you show her no concern at all?”

Martin looked as if someone had grabbed him by the throat, his eyes wide with disbelief.

The scene ended quickly beneath Vera’s disapproving gaze.

Dinner was served.

Martin, trying to put me in my place, had deliberately seated me at the far end of the table, right beside the entrance, where cold air kept rushing in.

I didn’t care in the slightest.

I dragged my chair over and squeezed in beside Vera.

A member of the household staff brought out a platter of enormous lobster tails.

Martin let out a cold laugh, picked up a piece of lobster meat with his fork, and sneered, “Eat up, country girl.”

“You’ve probably never even had lobster before. Don’t embarrass the Grant family with your table manners.”

Ethan, sitting across the table, cut his steak slowly and deliberately.

His eyes swept over my clothes with disdain.

“You show up dressed in bargain-bin clothes and expect anyone to believe you belong in this family?”

Martin turned to the house manager, his tone dripping with condescension.

“Have the room above the garage made up for her.”

“She’s used to going without. There’s no point wasting a proper guest suite on her.”

The house manager looked troubled and glanced toward Mr. Grant.

Mr. Grant was busy drinking and didn’t spare me a single glance.

I didn’t give either of those idiots the time of day.

I was too busy doting on my princess of a sister.

“Vera, this lobster is so tender. Only the best for someone as pretty as you.”

I placed a large piece of lobster meat on Vera’s plate.

Then I pushed a dish of Brussels sprouts toward Martin.

“These are bitter and unpleasant.”

I gave him a sweet smile.

“Just like you.”

Vera burst out laughing at my joke, her eyes crinkling.

She gently picked up a rib and placed it on my plate.

“You should eat more too, Tessa.”

Seeing how close we were, Martin and Ethan practically ground their teeth.

When they’d finally finished taking their shots at me, I slowly wiped my mouth.

Then I reached into my pocket and pulled out a black card that gleamed beneath the lights.

It was the Centurion card my eight brothers had forced on me because they were terrified I’d be mistreated.

It had no preset spending limit.

I shoved it into Vera’s hand, my eyes curving into a smile.

“Vera, this card is yours.”

“Spend it on whatever my beautiful sister wants!”

As I reached forward, my sleeve rode up just enough to reveal the edge of the serpent bracelet worn only by the designated heir to Shaw Industries.
