Once My Only, Now Just a Memory Chapter 18

“I was wrong, Flora, Please let me make it up to you.”

“Where is Brielle?” I asked quietly.

Cillian immediately took out his phone and played a video.

The footage showed Brielle locked inside a secure psychiatric facility run by the Pack.

Her face was covered in deep, jagged scars, identical to the ones she had ordered the guards to carve into my

skin.

“She will spend the rest of her life there under tight security,” Cillian said. “Milo has been sent abroad. He will be provided for, but he will never inherit anything from the Wrenford family.”

He looked at me with a desperate hope in his eyes.

“We can have another child, Flora. Everything I own will belong to our pup.”

I let out a cold, mocking laugh. “So, without Brielle, we are supposed to be happy?”

Cillian froze.

“She is punished, so I am supposed to forgive you?”

I looked him in the eye. “Have you forgotten? You lied to me long before Brielle ever appeared. I was never your registered Luna.”

The color drained from Cillian’s face. “How do you know that?”

I only stared at him with cold disgust.

Finally, he admitted the truth.

When Edmund had agreed to let me into the family, he had set one condition.

I was not to be registered with the Pack Council until Lumi turned eighteen.

Cillian had initially refused.

But Edmund had given him an ultimatum. “Agree, or forfeit your inheritance.”

Cillian had hesitated, and in the end, he had chosen his inheritance.

He had convinced himself that we would be together forever anyway.

“What difference does a piece of paper make?” he had thought.

So the mating ceremony had been real.

The rings had been real.

The vows had been real.

The Pack members calling me Luna had been real.

But my legal status had been a lie.

The certificate I had cherished for years was nothing but worthless paper.

“Cillian.”

I spoke his name, feeling nothing but revulsion.

“I will never forgive you. If I had the power, I would destroy you. Get out of my sight.

His face was completely pale. “I will show you my sincerity,” he whispered before leaving.

A few days later, I was discharged from the hospital.

The moment I returned to the bakery, my email was flooded with job offers. Companies that had blacklisted me five years ago were suddenly begging me to interview.

A message from Cillian arrived shortly after.

“I was the one who blocked your employment back then. I wanted to force you to return to me.”
