Her head pressed against the cold stone. She was crumbling. Collapsing into herself.

“Avery. Every debt has its debtor. Jagger is the one who killed your baby. Not me. Take your revenge on him. Please. Let me go.”

Jagger’s eyes bulged at Tatum. “You lied to me?”

Now that the truth was out, Tatum dropped all pretense. “You can only blame your own stupidity. I photoshopped two random pictures and told you they were Avery’s hookup photos. You believed it.”

Some wild strength surged through Jagger. He broke free of security and lunged at Tatum.

“You poisonous bitch. You did this to me. I’ll kill you.”

They tangled together fast. Tatum was weaker. But she clawed at his face. Specifically. Targeting every open wound.

I stepped back. Watched the dogs tear into each other.

Jagger’s strength won. He pinned Tatum down. Wrapped both hands around her throat.

Her eyes rolled back. She was about to stop breathing. I signaled security. They pulled Jagger off her.

I dragged the bat forward. Both of them stared at me in horror. Shaking their heads. “No… no…”

I raised the bat. Aimed for their heads.

A cane pounded the ground. Urgent. Desperate. “Avery. Wait. Please.”

Jagger saw Old Mr. Hamilton. His savior. He sobbed. “Grandfather. She’s going to kill me. Please. Save me…”
