On the Wedding Day, I Married the Groom’s Uncle Chapter 09

Jagger screamed. He collapsed. Shaking. His mouth kept running. “Uncle hasn’t touched a woman in over thirty years. He was born infertile. Everyone knows that.”

“I never imagined he would actually marry you. Or have a child with you.”

“Is that your reason for killing my child? I begged you yesterday. Just make one phone call. Verify it. You refused. You smashed my phone.”

If Jagger had believed a single word I said, my baby would still be alive.

Rage consumed me. The bat came down. Again and again. Jagger writhed. Tried to escape. Security pinned him in place.

He screamed at me. “Avery, if you don’t stop, I’ll expose all your dirty secrets. Let’s see if my uncle still wants you then.”

I looked at him. Flat. Empty. “What dirty secrets do I have for you to expose?”

Jagger snarled. “Right before the wedding. You were at a bar with a bunch of men. Naked photos. Everywhere. If you weren’t such a filthy slut, why would I have run out on you?”

“If I hadn’t run, none of this would’ve happened. When you get down to it, you’re the cause of everything. You.”

He turned to Beckett. “Uncle. Avery is a whore. A woman like that doesn’t deserve to step foot in this family. Because of all her stains, I made a mistake. I hurt the child by accident.”

Beckett kicked him. Hard. “Jagger. Spreading these lies about my wife. Have you thought about what that will cost you?”

Jagger shouted. “I’m not lying. Tatum saw it all with her own eyes. The photos of Avery are still on my phone.”

I shifted my gaze to Tatum. Crumpled on the ground. The bat swung near her head. “Where? When? What exactly did you see with your own eyes?”

Tatum’s face went white. She couldn’t speak.

I slammed the bat into her shoulder. “Talk.”

Tatum shrieked. “I made it all up. To trick Jagger into running away with me. The photos. I photoshopped them.”
