On the Wedding Day, I Married the Groom’s Uncle Chapter 05

Old Mr. Hamilton stared at the scene before him. Disbelief. Then his ebony cane came up and came down hard on Jagger.

“You monster. What have you done?”

Jagger dodged. His eyes shot toward me. Full of resentment. “Grandfather, that gold digger wore the title of Mrs. Hamilton and played me for a fool. She fooled you and Uncle too. I never touched her. That thing in her belly was never mine.”

Tatum added, “That’s right, Sir. Jagger and I only just got back today. She’s already six or seven months along. It’s obviously some random bastard.”

The cane came down again. This time on Tatum.

“Avery’s child is not a bastard. It is a Hamilton heir.”

Jagger shouted. “Grandfather, how is that possible? I never touched her.”

Beckett lifted my bleeding body into his arms. He walked over. One brutal kick sent Jagger crashing to the ground. His eyes were murder.

“If anything happens to Ave or that child, I will have both your lives.”

He carried me out. Rushed toward the hospital.

Jagger didn’t dare breathe until his uncle was gone. The killing intent had been real. He sucked in air and turned to his grandfather.

“Grandfather. Has Uncle lost his mind? Why would he make me pay with my life over that cheap woman and some bastard?”

Tatum’s voice went quiet. “Jagger. Do you think this is all a setup? Between Avery and your uncle? He can’t have kids. Maybe they planned to use that lump in her belly to steal your inheritance.”

Jagger spun to the old man. “Grandfather, you have to stand up for me. Everything in this family is mine. It can’t fall into the hands of outsiders.”

They were both about to die. And they still didn’t understand.

Mr. Hamilton slammed his cane onto Jagger’s head. “Edward Hamilton. Sharp as a blade my whole life. How did I end up with a grandson this stupid?”

“Avery’s child is not a bastard. It’s Beckett’s child.”
